1. Gearing for raids with emblems - Holy Priest

    Still new to WOTLK and just trying to find the best gear to ICC.

    I am a Holy Priest going and nearly maxed out farming dungeon gear from drops.
    I used my emblems over by the emblem of triumph vendor near the innkeeper's bar in Dalaran by the portals.
    BUT just recently my friend showed me that there is a Cloth armor trainor that sells better gear with emblem of triumph and also frost.

    Are there any other vendors that I am not aware about that can help my GS go up? I'd love to get in a raid

  2. The cloth-specific vendors in the Threads of Fate building in Dalaran.
    The emblem vendors in the faction-specific parts of Dalaran that have a vendor for each type of emblem.
    The EoT vendors out at the Argent Tournament that are just outside the entrance to ToC10/25.
    The EoF vendors at Light's Hammer, just inside the entrance of ICC.
    There are also some world drop and raid drop BoE's, along with crafted BoE's that you can use.

    Depends on what you're wearing, usually.
    #1 Priority is getting your set bonuses via T10 ASAP.
    If you don't have access to #1 just yet, see if you can get the T9 two-piece bonus.
    Everything beyond that revolves around just getting more stats and getting your regen up high enough to where your mana pool can comfortably last until the end of most boss fights (i.e. you go OOM about the time the boss dies). Focus on Spirit>mp5>Intel>Crit above other stats until you reach that point. From there, you can start gearing up some more haste and spellpower for throughput.

    If you link your armory or tell your character & realm name, I can give specific item suggestions if you want.

    Mercy, you're a saint. Thank you for you're help again.
    Realized most of my gear are higher than the EoT Vendor in the faction section of Dalaran and i just discovered the cloth vendor.
    Im conflicted because I don't know if I should be going for the full velen's set and not benefit from having 4 pieces. Or stick with the gear right now that I have (don't quote me on this) but higher gear score last time i checked.
    I've been trying to grind both emblems daily but 2 EoF a day is not cutting so I am trying to find the best way to get into WoTLK Raids to farm more EoF daily

  4. Based on what I'm seeing on your armory, here are some suggestions on what you can do with your gear pre-ICC raid.

    Helm: Hood of Clouded Sight
    This is a side-grade, but it is a decent gain. You don't need hit as a Holy Priest, spirit will net you more spellpower, and crit is both good for throughput and mana efficiency.

    Shoulders: Change your gems here. Haste is alright, but not an ideal gemming. Don't worry too much about this socket bonus. If you are having mana regen troubles, gem pure spirit here. If not, you can gem pure spellpower. If you want something in between, my favorite gem is "Purified" which is spirit+spellpower.

    Chest: Zabra's Robe of Triumph
    This is a side-grade, and the reason for it is the same as the helm. It's a decent improvement on stats, even though the item level doesn't change.

    Belt: Sash of Potent Incantations
    This item will be on the Emblem of Conquest vendor in Dalaran. It will be in the Alliance-only area for you where there are the multiple different emblem vendors.

    Ring: Band of the Invoker
    This will be on the Emblem of Triumph vendor in Dalaran, or one of the vendors outside of ToC10/25. Replace your Spiteful Signet with this.

    Trinket: Talisman of Resurgence
    Same location as the ring above. Replace your Forge Ember trinket with this.

    BoE item options;
    These will be pricey, so don't bother with them unless you have some gold to burn.

    Trinket: Je'Tze's Bell
    World-drop BoE. You would replace your Nevermelting Ice Crystal with this one.

    ICC crafted legs & boots (tailoring);
    Lightweave Leggings - Pattern: Lightweave Leggings
    Sandals of Consecration - Pattern: Sandals of Consecration
    Even if you have the ability to craft these yourself, the materials will take a long time to gather, or will be expensive. You could also just buy them outright from the AH if you have the gold.

    Weapon: Hammer of Purified Flame
    This comes from the Battered Hilt quest chain. The likelihood of you farming it up is very low, so you would likely need to drop gold on one. But it will be one of the best weapon options available pre-ICC.

    Item farming options;
    Trinket: Tears of the Vanquished
    Drops from the Black Knight in ToC5 normal. Replace your Nevermelting Ice Crystal with it. This trinket would last you a good while and is an excellent mana trinket.

    Weapon;
    Surgeon's Needle
    Farming Pit of Saron for this can be good if you have a nice off-hand.

    Belt: Braid of Salt and Fire
    This belt will be better than the one you can get from Emblems of Conquest. Another reason to keep doing your daily heroic Pit of Saron.

    Ending note;
    Keep doing your daily heroic Pit of Saron (not Forge of Souls, you don't need it) and see if you can at least get the belt from it. If you can convince people to do heroic Halls of Reflection, there are a few items you can get in there.
    Otherwise, once you've done the things listed here in this post (or you can just go ahead and do this in addition to farming emblems for the above listed items), you should go do ToC10 and 25 if you can manage it, on a weekly basis, to get as much gear from it as you can.
    If your aim is to eventually get into ICC, you can try to fairly early. Even if you only kill a few bosses, that's still a sizable boost on how quickly you can get Emblems of Frost. If you're pugging ICC, then GOOD LUCK. I strongly advise finding a guild that will allow you to go in there with them though.

    I appreciate that. I'm happy to help.

    Thanks for all your help, if I could I'd upvote you to oblivion. I really appreciate that you took the time to look at my gear and break it down to what I should go for. :)

    Also would just like to hear your take on endgame BiS gear, would you recommend the link below as a starter and work towards a Val'anyr?

    Thanks again

  6. When it comes to Holy BIS, if you're not playing the "Renew spam" build, there are various ways that you can build your gear. It all depends on how much spellpower you want, how much haste you want, and how much mana regen you want. The list on the link you posted, I would change the cloak to the cloak out of Ruby Sanctum (Cloak of Burning Dusk) and change the staff to the Lich King (Royal Scepter of Terenas II) mace (or Valanyr) and the off-hand from Sindragosa (Sundial of Eternal Dusk).

    And yes, Valanyr is a very good item for Holy Priest. One could argue it is the best class/spec for the weapon.

    I, personally, carry around two sets for Holy. One that maximizes haste/crit, and another that maximizes spellpower/spirit. How I use them depends on what raid buffs and utilities I have, how long I expect boss fights to last, and how hard I expect the healing to be.

    This is what my two sets look like;

    Haste/Crit set;
    Head: Sanctified Crimson Acolyte Hood
    Neck: Blood Queen's Crimson Choker
    Shoulders: Sanctified Crimson Acolyte Shoulderpads
    Cloak: Cloak of Burning Dusk
    Chest: Sanguine Silk Robes
    Wrists: Bracers of Fiery Night
    Gloves: Sanctified Crimson Acolyte Gloves
    Belt: Crushing Coldwraith Belt
    Legs: Sanctified Crimson Acolyte Leggings
    Feet: Plague Scientist's Boots
    Ring 1: Ring of Rapid Ascent
    Ring 2: Memory of Malygos
    Trinket 1: Althor's Abacus
    Trinket 2: Glowing Twilight Scale
    Weapon: Royal Scepter of Terenas II
    Off-hand: Shadow Silk Spindle
    Wand: Corpse-Impaling Spike

    Spirit/Spellpower set; (Most commonly used)
    Head: Sanctified Crimson Acolyte Hood
    Neck: Bone Sentinel's Amulet
    Shoulders: Sanctified Crimson Acolyte Shoulderpads
    Cloak: Cloak of Burning Dusk
    Chest: Sanguine Silk Robes
    Wrists: Death Surgeon's Sleeves
    Gloves: Sanctified Crimson Acolyte Gloves
    Belt: Lingering Illness
    Legs: Sanctified Crimson Acolyte Leggings
    Feet: Plague Scientist's Boots
    Ring 1: Ring of Rapid Ascent
    Ring 2: Memory of Malygos
    Trinket 1: Althor's Abacus
    Trinket 2: Glowing Twilight Scale
    Weapon: Royal Scepter of Terenas II
    Off-hand: Sundial of Eternal Dusk
    Wand: Nightmare Ender

    There are also some items that I swap on a case-by-case basis. Those items being;
    Trauma
    Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings
    Solace of the Fallen (This is the Horde version)

    If you, or anyone else, plans on "full-donoring" a Holy Priest and don't plan on playing "Renew Spam", I would strongly suggest set #2 and include a Solace trinket in there. It's the most mana friendly of the two setups, and it has very potent levels of spellpower too (over 4300 spellpower self-buffed, no procs, and no full spellpower-gemming). Of course, there are some items that I don't use that could go even further down this route, for example Ring of Maddening Whispers but I chose not to because that would be excess regen I don't need and thus opted for more haste instead. This does not mean that you cannot go this route yourself if you want to.

    And before anyone asks "Where is the Ashen Verdict ring?", there are two reasons I don't use it. First, I don't like RNG procs on healers, so I avoid them where possible. Second, I'm using it for my Shadow set and have no plans on using coins to get a second one.

    I do have a guide here ( http://forum.warmane.com/showthread.php?t=380470 ) that may help you with some of your questions or concerns.
