I would like to know how the queue system works and how I can skip the queue.
If I donate once, can I skip the line for life? Or do I have to donate every week, month or year?

If you donate you skip queue forever on Icecrown. Forum posts indicate that you skip queue on Lordaeron only for a month after donation, but I've donated several months ago and I still skip it.

Queue system works like this:
There's a cap of 12k people. Once 12k people join in, every other person has to wait for some1 to log off or get kicked off the server. Donors skip this queue and get instantly inside the realm and fill the server up over the 12k limit. So for example, a person who is 45th in queue, will actually have to wait for 46 people if 1 donor joins the realm, 47 people if 2 donors join BUT it will show 45 people to that person. People in queue don't see the invisible +1 that donors add to their queue if a donor joins before them. Therefore, it might seem that queue moves very slowly.
