1. Which classes are sought after?

    Greetings,

the title says it all. Im plannin on starting on the server "Icecrown" and I wonder which classes have an easier time getting into a guild and raids? Appreciate all answers.

  2. Any tank and healer.
    For DPS: Boomie, SPriest, Locks

  3. It really depends per day.
    Tank slots fill fairly fast.
Heals are needed a bit more when you talk about 25m content.

However, any class and spec are needed, it really is depending on who is online and who joins first.

Speaking dps, any ranged will do.

  4. Every pug raid I join, always needs locks. Especially VOA25s.

  5. Any tank and healer.
    For DPS: Boomie, SPriest, Locks
This. Also, if you wanna get in dungeons fast, go tank. Healers for raids: Hpal, Disco Priest, Rshaman, Rdruid. Lately, they have been asking for Locks a lot, specially for Voa as AlexMarv said. There are not enough locks in the server I guess.

  6. Every pug raid I join, always needs locks. Especially VOA25s.
Yeah they do require Warlocks but by the time you play one, all raids will have 3-4 warlocks. Sad story.

Server seems to need Class A, you roll Class A.
Your Class A is level 80, you run into many raids with multiple Class A's. To the point of "we already have 3 Class A's".
You struggle to find gear/raids for your Class A.

You decide to roll Class B.
Your Class B is level 80, you run into many raids with multiple Class B's. To the point of "we already have 3 Class B's".
There's not much need for Class A, B.

    You roll Class C.
You get your Class C to level 80. Raids you get into drops the perfect loots for Classes A, B.
You get into raids more as Class C, but the drops heavily lean on Classes A, B.

You get to raid with your Classes A, B, but the loot this time is perfect for Class C.

It's an endless cycle. Prefer to play what I like, makes it more fun than playing a class that's sought after, but don't like one.
I've made so many Shamans and Warlocks, and even now, on my 3rd ones I think, I'm prepping to sell them.. again..

  8. Just don't make a plate dps and you're good :-D

  9. Top 10 most desired class.

    1. TANKS*
    2. Holy Paladin
    3. Disco Priest
    4. Resto Druid
    5. Resto Shaman
    6. Balance Druid
    7. Demo / Affil Lock
    8. Shadow Priest
    9. Hunter
    10. Ele Shaman

    *EXCLUDING WARRIOR TANKS.
Sometimes different tanks can be more desireable, such as Feral Druids for their mass armor, but raids are rarely picky about this.

Edit@ Changes position on Ele Shaman and Hunter.

  10. Imperiet, nobody never looks for ele shamans, worst dps spec in expansion and no unique buff either.

  11. As long as you're not melee you should be fine.

Don't play a class that you don't enjoy tho, back in the day I used to play resto shaman and druid because they were needed - I hated it. That raid spot isn't worth it.

They do because sometimes the raid doesnt have a resto shaman, but still has a dps slot available.
They want him for the totems, Boomkin buff (Sometimes the raid has no boomkin), and most of all, Bloodlust/Heroism.

Dont tell me dps shamans are useless because dps is the only thing that matters.

Oh, i will tell that ele dps is useless. Resto shammy is always needed and enha always deal more dmg. No one in right mind will be looking for ele, cuz it's waste of dps slot (any class deals more dmg) and waste of gear.
We don't speak about "sometimes" and "ICC25nm run, GShc b+o+p ress" pugs, we are speaking about effective raiding and classes for it. So keep your dreams of "usefullness" of ele shammy with you and don't spread disinformation that will lead to players wasting their resourses

What exactly gives you the right to dictate what we are talking about? You little arrogant scoundrel.
OP never made it very specific, he simply said raids and guilds. He may just be refering to casual normal pugs as well as LoD guilds. He also never asked for the most effective class in terms of dps so shut up with that arrogant attitude. He asked for the most sought after class, i.e the class that is often in short supply yet still very useful to the raid because reasons, he was never asking for the most big dick dps, which is a totally different discussion entirely.
By my anecdotal experence ele is way more sought after than Encha in pug raids, simply because there is a tremendously higher chance that the raid already has a DK or a Hunter than they have a Moonkin. Demo warlocks can also be in short supplies quite often, increasing the demand for a ele shaman rather than a Encha. If you play with a guild, most guilds wants a resto shaman to have ele offspecc available. Encha has NOTHING to offer other than slightly more dps, and nearly every single raid needs a shaman because of totem CC and raidbuffs. On Alliance especially shamans are in shorter supply since only one race (the least picked race) has them.

Finally, I did list Ele Shaman at the second bottom of my list, meaning they are less sought after than Shadow priest or Demo lock, but it also means that chances are higher a raid needs specifically an ele shaman more than they would search for a retri paladin as they tend to fill up raids quite quickly.
You're making a big fuss over a class I already ranked as probably the lowest sought after among the top most.

This post remind me of Classic WOW people who was saying some specs are unplayable and you will never find a group with them, meanwhile you have people doing raids naked....

ICC is 10 years old raid and everyone are way too overgeared, there is no need to min/max anymore and 99% of guild dont do it. Shamans are underrepresent as a whole, they are always wanted and rdps is aways preffered over melee. As Elemental you will never have problem getting into guild and raids.

Also this thread is from octomber my guess is OP already have made his choice :D
