1. Boosting Low-Level toons?

This morning I attempted to boost one of my alts (on another account) by carrying the alt through the Stocks. However, he never received any XP. Is there a restriction on boosting of this kind?

    Cheers,
EDIT: The alt was level 32 and my booster is an 80 mage.

  2. There is no restriction on boosting that way, no. Just make sure the character is within the level range of the dungeon (Basically, is shouldn't show as a boss or ?? for the level) and they aren't too far away from the dying mobs.

Thanks, good info. However, I put my alt on follow and still didn't get the XP. I'll run it again and just make sure my observations were correct.

It scales the EXP distribution based on the highest level in the party. What that means is, if a mob gives 250 EXP, 225EXP is going to be allocated to your level 80 and only 25EXP will go to your level 30 (those aren't exact numbers, just an example). Its rather pointless to boost TBH because your getting a very little amount of exp for the time spent. Its mainly used just to get better gear.

There is a work around for this though- use a lower level toon to boost. A level 50-70 toon can clear low level dungeons just as fast and they won't soak as much EXP from the lower level.

I've boosted a lot of alts, too many perhaps, via dungeons. I can't really say it's slow. I've boosted all the way to 68, and on few occasion Nexus with the quests, I haven't boosted beyond level 70.

Some dungeons are bad EXP when boosting, such as Uldaman. Then there are legends like RFC, SM's, Zul'Farrak etc. are great EXP.

Idk this was maybe in the past but it isnt for alot time anymore , try it out and see. You get huge exp while boosting with your 80 trough dungeons.
I'm prety sure it gives same exp atm like you woulda get with same lvl ppl in party. For example in Scarlet Monastery you can get from 20-ish to 45-46 in about 30-45 mins if you do it properly since you can do 4 instances without needing to reset and later on just go BRD from 45 to 57-58 under 1 hour.
And to the OP like some1 said allready your alt needs to bet withing range of mobs , tbh even when i saw lvl with my alt in sm i didnt get exp on 19 if i remember corectly so yea 8-9 lvl range i think.

And like OhieMitzen said it work amazing til lvl 68-70 , later it depend on what toon your boosting , you capabilities and the toons gear...with dk , pala you can do amazing stuff , even works fine if you que rdf and put your alt on follow if you get que that is in normal rdf...then again that also can be done easy if your alt can que heal and your boosting char tank since like i said dk & pala can solo even HC dungeons easy if you know how / have the gear for it.

Your alt is too high for stocks, you are getting almost no XP this is why.
