1. Personal loot, modular raids, and other ramblings of an old man

I'm just writing this post to vent my frustration and blow some steam because wotlk may be my favorite expansion, but it is not the best experience in gaming (TL;DR: I'm a crazy person and you can ignore this post and save you a few minutes of your time)

I've been playing on and off in the server for 10 years, and I've found myself enjoying less the game as of late. I never really enjoyed the raiding experience, raids take a long time and are tiresome even if you make it to the last boss, and to make matters worse there's always loot drama in pugs or even guild runs, and to top it all many guilds use some form of the dkp system, which is pretty much bullcrap when you can't be there for every raid. Suffice to say, the game hasn't aged well, and I haven't done so either.

When tmog was introduced I was thrilled even if wasn't a feature of the original expansion, but that didn't last long either. An so it got me thinking, what would I do to change the expansion to make it more enjoyable?

I'd ger rid of multiboxing: wintergrasp was a somewhat enjoyable experience after they limited mboxers, but now instead of having 3 mboxers with 25 char per battle we got 6 mboxers running around oneshoting you anyways

PvE/PvP state toggle on login: you don't want to get ganked? Logout and toggle off PVP mode, you want to get into some world PVP action? relog and toggle on PVP mode

Personal loot: It was introducced in MoP, but I think it would be great to save ourselves from the headache of ninjas, loot drama, and dkp systems

Modular Raids: dividing the raids to make them shorther would be a godsend, clear each quarter of naxx separatedly, or just go for the plagueworks in ICC, PP is the bane of pugs anyways, so instead of getting locked out of the rest of ICC go and kill sindra with another ID

Well, that's all from me for now, somewhere in the multiverse there's one me that is enjoying the best wotlk experince, and I envy that lucky mother****r. I'm back to the grind for my dreamed "its over 9000"

  2. What can I say, you have to look for a different game I guess.

Imo charm of WOTLK is that you still have to talk to people, negotiate things, build your own army or be a part of one. You can decide to do 3 bosses of a raid every day, or split it up in any way you want. Organize your group well and multiboxers will not stand a chance against you. There is no loot drama when everyone agrees to rules.

  3. Multiboxers: Dealing multiboxers with kamikaze tactic of "I'll go fight him alone" is stupid. If you're in a bg, you shouldn't be alone. You spot a MB? Call for help, run away, don't face him? Team up and beat the MB 7 vs 5. MB can't do much if you have the numbers on your side, not them. Can't get people to cooperate? Hmm.. I wonder why people MB.. What could it be?

PvE/PvP toggle: Makes things even worse. Toggle off PvP and go farm materials. Nobody can fight you, so you're safe to take your materials, while others may have to fight for it. Can't kill bot farms either when they disable PvP. You can avoid wPvP easily by avoiding few hotspot locations, so why bother with toggles.

Personal loot: Didn't ever like it. Always felt like I was only in for the loots, it kinda destroyed the "be part of the raid" feeling. It just makes loot more about you in a sense. Probably fun for people to get duplicates STS/DBW/CTS/Phyl/TaiaJ/DV/DC while somebody is struggling to get even one.

Modular raids: Nah. Might be hard to implement, and with this client may not even be possible. This would favor individualism/selfishness, don't need loot from X place? Well don't go there, even more so with personal loot. Allows players to skip content they don't want to experience without consequences. Would probably make gearing easier, so GS requirements would increase as well.

It's like trying to fix a thing that was never broken?

My favorite part about personal loot is when a new raid comes out, you get an ilvl "upgrade" on a trinket, but the trinket is trash for your class and you can't give it to another class because the system sees it as an "ilvl upgrade" and thus won't allow you to trade it.
It also puts the responsibility to trade in YOUR hands. Whereas with MasterLooter, the people who don't want to deal with that don't have to.

  5. As for the talk of the "modular raid" content, I don't know about that. What I can tell you is that if you play Frostmourne each season, you'll see that the staff will be trying out new things each season that won't require any client-side modification.

  6. DKP bullcrap? Its the fairest system there is. Why should you get a ANY loot from a boss as a casual that the entire guild was working on for weeks or months? Put your shoulder in work with the guild and get rewarded. Expecting to cheese out gear with RNG from dedicated people just shows your general mentality.

  7. Multiboxers: Dealing multiboxers with kamikaze tactic of "I'll go fight him alone" is stupid. If you're in a bg, you shouldn't be alone. You spot a MB? Call for help, run away, don't face him? Because some people don't enjoy world pvp and we should be able to opt out of it. And there's nothing good or fun about 1 or more level 80s in top end gear camping a place like duskwood for hours and making it impossible to quest.

When in a PvP server, your ability to opt-out means not playing in the PvP server.
