Technical Game acts like Fresh install every time I open it!!

Hello there.
Every time I open my shortcut to wow.exe, it acts like a fresh install. It opens in windowed mode with maximum sound settings, tries to make me watch the intro cut scene, makes me accept the terms of service, and it NEVER saves my account name.
Then, once I log in, It Defaults to the new player realm. I have no characters in that realm, I have three on Lordaeron.
I was just wondering if there was a way to change the settings and save the changes. I seem to remember being able to modify a text file with the options, but it would just be great if the client "remembered" the changes Ive made.

I downloaded the client from the top of this web page via torrent. I moved the downloaded folder "World of Warcraft 3.3.5a" out of my downloads folder into another directory on my HD. I opened the folder and made a shortcut to Wow.exe on my desktop and started playing from there.
Every single time it acts like a fresh install HOWEVER, it does save my hotkey configuration and my in game character settings such as auto loot, and the option to not show your cloak.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My first of hopefully many more posts on this forum.

Right click the game folder, go to properties and uncheck "Read Only"
