1. Addon help - Read only will NOT disable -- Any advice is appreciated.

    Hello all Murki here,

I recently started playing Warmane (yesterday) and have encountered an issue with my addon, or lack thereof. I've spent a few hours researching this issue and haven't found any solution yet.

So what I believe the issue is my folder is stuck on "Read Only". Once I untick, and apply it seems to go through but upon opening the properties file again it is ticked back onto read only.

I have done the following steps in order to try and fix this issue but no solution yet.

    1. Right click my WoW folder > Properties > Untick "Read-Only" > Apply > OK.
    a. WoW folder > Properties > Security > Advanced > made sure I have "Full Control" under permission.
    -- *no luck*

    2. I have gone into my system settings and turned OFF my "Controlled folder access"
    a. Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security > Virus & Threat protection > Manage settings > Manage controlled folder access - switch to OFF.
    -- *no luck*

    3. I have attempted to modify my WoW folder from read only attribute to system attribute using CMD.
    a. Open CMD as admin > used "attrib -r +s "path of my WoW folder"
    -- *no luck*

Additional info, I am using Windows 11 and I have noticed all of my other folders also get reverted back into read only, not just my wow folder. I'm going out on a limb here hoping someone has any help because my last option which I prob won't do is re-installing windows..

    Thank you in advance,

    Murki.

  2. A square in the read-only box does not mean that it's enabled. It only means that files in the folder could have different read-only values and they will not get changed when you press OK or Apply. That alone should not cause issues. What issues exactly are you having with your addons?

  3. So as a response to the first statement, I'm using windows 11 so it isn't a square its more of a blue box with a " - " inside of it. Once I untick it, the box turns completely white with nothing inside. But reloading the properties page shows the same blue square with the - .
Once I untick this and hit apply I get the message
"You have chosen to make the following attribute changes:
    Unset read-only
Do you want to apply this change to this folder only, or do you want to apply it to all subfolders and files as well? "
Then I click the only option that I am allowed which is
" Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files "

which should in theory change ALL my WoW folders to unset read - only mode.

    2. The issue I am having is I do not get ANY addons in game, the character selection screen does not even show me a addons option. No addons at all will load/show. Not in character list or in game.

I have the correct addons and versions installed.

I haven't used Windows 11 yet but it should still work the same. So I don't think that's the issue.

Have you installed the addons correctly? The folder structure should look like this: Interface/AddOns/<addon name>/<some files and possibly folders>

Maybe there is an extra folder in the middle? Some addon files are supposed to be directly in Interface/AddOns/<addon name> folder. If there is an extra folder in between, you will have to remove it.

  5. Let me give you a few examples of a file name

    C:/Users/*****/OneDrive/Desktop/World of Warcraft 3.3.5a/Interface/AddOns/Bagnon_2.13.3/Bagnon/components

    C:/Users/*****/OneDrive/Desktop/World of Warcraft 3.3.5a/Interface/AddOns/AtlasLoot-v5.11.04/AtlasLoot_WrathoftheLichKing
Edited: April 17, 2022 Reason: My dashes were removed

  6. C:Users*****OneDriveDesktopWorld of Warcraft 3.3.5aInterfaceAddOnsBagnon_2.13.3Bagnoncomponents
    It should be:
    Interface/AddOns/Bagnon/components

"Bagnon_2.13.3" should not be there. Same with the other addons.

  7. Let give that a try, i'll check back in within the hour because everytime I try something new I have to wait the que XD

  8. You're a beautiful person, I could kiss you

    THANK YOU.
