Is the Who function bugged?

I see on the web page that there are 7578 players in Icecrown on 09/26/22 at 6:26 pm Costa Rica time ...but when I use the who function in the game it only shows 50 players .

not hating or anything I'm just curious since I would love to play with friends and meet new people too.

It is working as intended, 50 ppl max was on retail aswel.

The /who is actually capped to 50 in any of the realms, deliberately showing way less characters than the realm currently have. It was put in place years ago to keep people from spamming the command and causing lag to the servers. It mostly helps WotLK realms, but we just left it by default in all of them.
