WotLK Lost my character

Hello there,
I've been playing on this server somewhere between 1 and 2 years ago. I don't remember the realm, but remember playing for some time and having fun. Then i took a around 3 month break, to come back to my character missing from any realm. I remember that it was the end of a patch cycle, so do all characters just get deleted?

And to add it up, my character doesn't appear in barracks or armory now and didn't appear then. Nick was Retruz, also used Retrus, but 2 human characters are 100% not mine, since i didn't play alliance.
