1. Guild Tabard

    Wouldn't it be awesome if you could adjust your guild tabard colour according to your rank? Similar to how you can set a colour to roles of discord ranks. Icon and boarders stay the same as set but just the base colour.

    It’s probably way to custom but it would give you a bit more of a sense of achievement ranking up in a guild from a green “member” to a blue “raider” for example.
    Could even be in the form of an addon if its to much scripting.

    Just an idea and probably stupid so please don’t hate me!

    The idea is cool, but let's be honest here..who is using or will use guild tabard? xD
    Implement rep ranking system from the newer expansion or something similar where your rank (reputation progress) is displayed next to the guild name, eg;
    <Veteran of United Apes> instead just the <United Apes>
    For wotlk it can be done with fixed ranks based on the rank number in guild - something similar to the original idea Neutral>..>..>Exalted, but for grank # instead.

    I do like how you think!

    Yes, I like to see who is <**** Master of Titan Souls>
    or <Grim Reaper of Dragonhearts>
    or <Slave of Plantation Owners>
    or <Catgirl Mascot of The Enigmatic Ones>

    Yeah.. how about no?

    How about reading carefully before spitting nonsense around?

    Maybe that's why I didn't quote the whole message? Hmm..

    Okay then, let's go all out and be super focused on the subject.

    How would the ranks and colors be sorted? White is the bottom, and black is the top, or would it change guild by guild? How would anybody outside of the guild remember/know what color of each guilds' ranks are? I mean, we should obviously know, because what would be the point of displaying guild rank to outsiders then? If blue>red in some guild, and in other blue<red. There would be no unison between the colors and guilds. That would just create confusion, and people probably would stop caring about the tabard colors (ranks of random guilds' random members). Which I suppose is the opposite of what the OP was thinking. So we would circulate back to the fact that those colors wouldn't really mean anything. Also, when was the last time you saw somebody equipping a guild tabard? I don't even remember.

    There are already many commonly used addons that display guild ranks and whatnot on player tooltips. Do we need such (minor) addition to the game.

    If ranks were on active display, I can only imagine they would be one source for insults when somebody doesn't play as you want, and decide to bully player(s) based on their rankings as well. More fuel for the ever-burning fire I guess.

    Fixed ranks means set by the server based on your rank in the guild or the permissions you have, for example;
    Recruiter of X = permissions to invite people
    That's why I said read carefully before spitting nonsense around, nobody suggested anything about custom ranks with given names by the players
    Also those (rep) ranks (originally) are visible/displayed only to you and to your guild mates, not public.

    Would we go by the default guild ranks to be displayed? Initiate, Member, Veteran, Officer, and Leader? Where's the core, raid leader, "recruiter", mute, or other ranks?
    Or would there be added ranks, whom would decide those ranks, their positioning? How many guilds do you think would like those set ranks? Do you even know how many guilds run different kind of guild rank setups? What if the guild uses fewer/more ranks than the default ones? What if the guilds' desired hierarchies don't match the fixed ranks?
    You're trying to stuff 10 highly customisable ranks to 5(?) fixed ones, and assume everybody likes it that way?

    Thus, the custom ranks would make sense, no? It won't take a minute before a "funny" person decides to have a poke at racism, sexism, transphobia, and whatever shaming they can.

    Gandyylf: "Oi Aragorxxn, the Recruiter of Guards of Minas Tirith, can you invite me to da guild lol xD plz"
    Aragorxxn: "No waay man. I can't invite peeps, because our Leader Bilbobegins made it so that Members can invite."
    Gandyylf: "What is this language you speak of, what kind of nonsense is that? lool omfg lmao"
    Aragorxxn: "Yeeah, you see.. Funny stoory. My actual Guild Rank is Silly McWhatshisface. Bilbobegins thought it would be funny to confuse people."
    Gandyylf: "So whom must I talk with to get invited to the guild. omfg /facepalm"
    Aragorxxn: "You can talk to Squaruman, but he's afkin atm with the Trolls."
    Gandyylf: "Trolls? You confuse me oWo"
    Aragorxxn: "Trolls b our officers."
