I did this achievement on Onixia as we have WotLK now.

Aside from bragging about my insane title, I decided to share some insights into how I actually earned it, in case it helps other players. I did this on my priest, although an alt was also required.

During boring downtime while waiting for raids to start, I worked on the reputation grind. I began with Ravenholdt, since it interfered the least with everything else and was relatively easy. In Stromgarde Keep, I farmed mobs inside the castle. The timing was perfect: I could run nonstop in circles, dotting and killing all the NPCs until they stopped granting reputation at the end of Honored.

At that point, I had to turn in around 1,000 Heavy Junkboxes. These can only be obtained through pickpocketing and are incredibly boring to farm due to the low “drop” rate. I couldn’t find a rogue willing to do it for me, so I decided to handle it myself. I boosted a rogue alt to level 70 and spent a couple of weeks pickpocket-farming boxes from orcs in Upper Blackrock Spire.

Next came the Bloodsail Buccaneers. Killing guards in Booty Bay is the way to go. Since I had multiple characters, I effectively “multiboxed” this. I engaged the guards with my priest and finished them off with DPS characters. This must not be done in a party, otherwise the reputation gets split, and I also didn’t want my other characters to become Hated with the Steamwheedle Cartel. Using this method, it didn’t take long to reach Honored with Bloodsail. I then completed the Avast Ye, Admiral! quest as proof, since the reputation would soon drop back to Hated. No need to maintain Bloodsail honored reputation!

After that, it was time to regain Steamwheedle Cartel reputation. I turned in large amounts of Silk Cloth near the entrance to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale.

I also found a good spot in central STV where I farmed Venture Co. goblins that grant 25 reputation each for all Steamwheedle factions. Many players are unaware of this and instead kill Bloodsail Buccaneers, but I didn’t kill a single Bloodsail pirate for Steamwheedle rep. This might be unique to Warmane—I can’t confirm. At some point, Booty Bay reputation stopped increasing while the other factions continued to gain rep, so I abandoned this method and moved on to Dire Maul for two reasons.

First, there’s the Free Knot! quest in the ogre area of Dire Maul. It can be repeated multiple times and grants 350 reputation with each Steamwheedle Cartel faction. Second, Shen’dralar reputation. They’re also located in Dire Maul, in the library section of the ogre wing, so it made sense to work on both reputations simultaneously, since Dire Maul would be visited many, many times anyway.

To access the ogre wing, you first need to complete the Pusillin quest chain to obtain the key. This questline is also in Dire Maul, but in the non-locked wing.

I bought Librams of Rapidity on multiple characters (since they’re unique) from the Auction House and also looted some myself in Dire Maul. For the libram turn-ins, I needed Blood of Heroes, which are normally easy to farm—but finding them at first was a challenge. To solve this, I downloaded the AzerothCore private server source code and checked the MySQL database for Blood of Heroes spawn locations in Eastern and Western Plaguelands. Private server databases are fairly standardized, so even though Warmane doesn’t use AzerothCore but its predecessor, the data was still useful.

I also set up a local private server and used GM commands to teleport to these locations to verify the spawns. This helped me discover several less obvious spawn points, which greatly improved farming efficiency. While I found coordinates in Wowhead comments, they weren’t always accurate. The respawn time is 7,200 seconds—exactly two hours—so once I looted a spawn, I knew precisely when to return. There are 14 spawn entries for Blood of Heroes in the database.

Blood of Heroes are easy to farm without fighting the mobs that spawn when you loot them, even at level 70. You just need to loot from the maximum possible distance; the level difference prevents the spawned mobs from engaging.

I repeatedly ran Dire Maul to turn in Librams of Rapidity for Shen’dralar reputation while also completing Free Knot! whenever possible.

Finally, Darkmoon Faire.

During TBC, it was impossible for me to complete Insane in the Membrane because of the Darkmoon reputation requirement. Some players on the server already had the title, but one later admitted there was a Classic-era bug that allowed Thorium Widgets to be turned in all the way to Exalted. Another claimed he bought Darkmoon cards cheaply from the Auction House, which was almost certainly a lie, since Darkmoon decks were extremely expensive. Without exploiting bugs, there was no legitimate way to complete Darkmoon reputation during Classic or TBC.

Wrath of the Lich King changed everything with the introduction of Inscription. As soon as WotLK launched, I picked up Inscription and started crafting Darkmoon cards, then assembling them into decks. In total, I made exactly 100 decks. Finally, on 02.02.2026, I earned the Insane in the Membrane title.
