Technical Massive lag spikes in warmane

When running warmane I am getting some huge lag spikes computerwide. Prior to having warmane open on my computer I will have 25-30ms ping to google.com in cmd, but after I open warmane I will consistently see lag spikes up to 3000ms every few minutes or so. I've tested a couple of other games and none have this effect. Sometimes it will even drop packets entirely. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
