Site Doubt with name change

Hello there

I’d like to create a Horde Death Knight, but the name I want is currently taken by an account that’s been inactive for over three months.

Is there anything that can be done in this case? Alternatively, if I purchase a name change, will it allow me to claim a name that’s already in use by an inactive character?

Character names are only considered unused and released if they are caught by the yearly cleanup. You can read more here, but the cleanup happens around Feb-Mar, so you are already late.
