Donating = Gold?

First off hello everyone. Just came back to WoW after a 15 year break give or take and I got a 34 druid on ice server... Im pretty broke and would like to know about the donating on one specific thing....

If I donate say 10$... How do i turn that into in game currency/gold.

You donate for coins, then go to trade tab and buy gold from players for coins.
