This is actually a question I was just thinking of.... What happens when Onyxia alts get moved/can be moved to Icecrown in terms of names? I've noticed some names I use on one are taken by the other. Like one name I like using for my troll shaman is taken in Icecrown (Tija), but it's available on Onyxia... Would I have to rename my character when/if it got moved to Icecrown?

If the name is taken by an Icecrown character, characters from Onyxia must choose a new name. Haven't gone through the process myself, so I don't know at what exact point the rename happens.

ok. thank you. so for the time i guess i can use the name Tija for my troll shaman on Onyxia, but when she gets moved to Icecrown I would have to rename her, basically.

Yep, just like that.
You could come up with a new name, make level 1 character on Icecrown to "reserve" it. Keep it active enough not to be renamed during inactivity cleanup. Once transfers are happening, delete the level 1 dummy character and enjoy the new name you chose for Tija.
