Allow Achievements & Titles to be Purchased with Coins
I know I know this sounds ridiculous at first, but let me explain. I believe this could bring more positives than negatives to the game.
Achievements were originally designed as proof of hard work and prestige. Rare achievements and titles like Realm First or Shadowmourne were badges of honor. However, nowadays, the prestige of achievements has largely vanished. With the current character trade system, there are hundreds of characters with 11k+ achievement points, and buying them invalidates the hard work part.
Currently, players can buy characters with achievements, but they cannot directly purchase achievements with coins. For hard achievements, most players rely on boost services, which flood trade and global chats and disrupt community interaction.
Some achievements, like Shadowmourne, are bought anyway. Most raiders never farm 300-400k gold required for 50 SFS shards, they end up buying gold with coins, then using that gold to buy SFS and finish Shadowmourne. Allowing this achievement to buy for a reasonable amount of coins (e.g., 100 coins) would be fair, simplify the process, and eliminate the SFS/Infusion market, which many consider unfair since raid leaders often cannot use the shards themselves.
Benefits of this system:
- Players can acquire achievements they genuinely want without being at the mercy of boosting services or gold farming.
- Reduces spam in global and trade chats from boosting services.
- Allows players who aim to fully complete achievements to finish their achievement collection. Many players are missing just a few achievements and this would let them finally complete their character.
Absolutely not. Those of us that have worked for 10+ years farming achievements, mounts, hks etc. etc. shouldn't have out hard work belittled by some all skrill *****s - especially those of us trying to complete every achievement. I would agree with some special events to do things like get WoWs 5th and 4th anniversary FoS, Jade Tiger, Regular Spectral tiger and even though it would make my ancient frost saber much less rare, the ability to get that and the black saber would be fun. Even Hand of Adal/ Champ of Naaru would be fun to be able to get during a special event (say 5 days, do all the quests etc.)
I'd say ban the gold boosters, most of them sell their boosts for gold bought with RMT or for actual $ if you just ask anyway.

Achievements are already belittled by Trade System.
500 coins for full BiS Shadowmourne character wth10k achievement points + Qiraji mount.
These sell out like crazy.
True, but then buying a character with high achievements creates a false sense of accomplishment. People are essentially just buying pride.
If we want to preserve the prestige and genuine accomplishment part, then they should be account bound. That way, selling characters would only transfer equipment, reputations, mounts, companions, currencies, and professions but not accomplishments.
Making achievements account-bound would also help a lot with alts getting into raids. Right now, when we want to join a pug with a fresh alt, we often have to convince the raid leader that we already have the achievement, sometimes even logging onto our main just to link it. But if someone can just buy a character with LOD achievement and couple BiS pieces for 50 coins, they're essentially buying accomplishments to trick raid leaders into letting them in.
While no, people won't really start leaving the server, at least at a noticeable amount, yes, get the achievements.
I don't even feel like reasoning anymore after someone unironically brought up "sense of pride and accomplishment" to this.
With one exception, the "they're essentially buying accomplishments to trick raid leaders into letting them in": it's sincerely the raid leader's fault if the only parameter they use are achievements. The same way people can use Coins to trade for a character, they can pay people in gold to get a carry for achievements they never earned. To make this "argument" even more absurd, you're literally suggesting for people to get achievements easier than having to wait for a character with it to be put up for trade at a reasonable Coin cost.
