I don't post much or ask for help in any way so I have been reluctant in making a public post about this, but given the circumstances I don't know what else to do.
3-4 months ago one of my (active) characters suddenly got flagged for rename. I obviously did not purchase a rename for it. Since I was forced to rename it, I renamed it to some random name and tried to retake the name on an alt. However, within the 2-3 seconds it took to reclaim my name it was already taken by someone else.

I made a ticket about this 3-4 months ago and despite sending follow-up tickets and 2 e-mails to warmane itself I have received no reply yet whatsoever.

This forum post is a last desparation attempt to, preferably get my character name back, or at least get some answers: Why was an active toon flagged for rename, and how is it possible that after being forced to rename in such a way, that a name gets taken within 2 -3 seconds after doing so.

I reallty care about my toons and the names they hold so please warmane, get back to me?

Either your name was deemed inappropriate and a GM had to change it (this could have happened due to a player report or a staff member noticing it), or you were inactive for over a year, which can cause your characters to lose their names during the inactivity cleanup if your account is not premium.
In either case, you won’t be able to reclaim those names once they’ve been flagged for a rename by a GM or removed due to inactivity cleanup.

• Level 1 and above characters that have not been played since January 2024 will have their names removed.
  
  • Characters will have the opportunity to choose a new name upon the next login.
  
  
• Level 1 - 50 characters that have not been played since July 2024 will be removed.
  
  • Premium accounts are exempt from removals.
  • Characters that are guild masters will result in the guild being removed.

1 - If the name was changed by a GM, it means it was flagged as inappropriate. Using it again will result in punishment.

1) the name was definately not offensive in any way.
2) the char was not inactive, I also sent screenshots of this as proof with my ticket.

2) also, the name was not taken yet by anyone else. Technically I still had the name at the point it had been fllagged but I was forced to rename it and I could not rename it to the same name.

Just curious if the name was neither offensive, inappropriate or otherwise problematic mind sharing it?

Also someone else "claiming" your name in 2-3 seconds sounds very unlikely.

Support not answering over multiple months also sounds like it's either considered solved due to being a nonsensical request (e.g. name is offensive to begin with) or another issue altogether.

The only alternative I can imagine aside the name just being unacceptable for some reason would be this: https://forum.warmane.com/showthread...=1#post3249251. But that happened in February, not 3-4 months ago.

There being no replies whatsoever to multiple tickets and emails also sounds quite off. You'd be more likely to get banned from using Support due to spamming them over something than there being no answer.

The name was Cats. The completely random rename flag and the name being taken within 2-3 seconds after the forced rename is exactly what makes this whole thing extremely weird to me.

I was maybe not clear enough on this. The 4 month old ticket is still open. I have received no feedback yet on either the original ticket, the follow up tickets and my emails to warmane.

I actually have the exact same thing, and it's so weird. I tried to open a ticket, but received a response in the lines of "This is not something we can help with, good luck". No one has taken my character's name, it was active, and it is not inapproriate.

If everything you are saying is really true, that can only mean one thing, someone from Warmane staff wanted that name and stole it lol. But I think your story is probably not 100% accurate... I don't think they would do something like that but who knows...

I am just here with an update: It now has been nearly 6 months without any communication from Warmane staff about this issue on either my tickets, my emails or my forum post. If anyone has a suggestion to what else I can do I would dearly like to hear it.
