I noticed some of the taggers here are missing the basics behind the creation of a signature. Nothing weird about that considering we are not a GFX community, but I'm sure this guide will help you guys get on the right track ;).
There's a lot more to tagging than putting a render with a few effects. Let this be your Dictionary, Encyclopedia and overall guide. [Credits go to Zenron]
I can assure you that you will improve just by the knowledge you will gain here. So take your time and read carefully.
I'd say 5% of talent, 70% of work and 25% of luck. Sometimes, a new tag creation goes very well and you complete it in an hour. However, sometimes you spend several hours just to realize what you created is total crap and several seconds later, it's already in the recycle bin. I had that numerous of times.
I'm not sure about your conflict whether it should or should not be posted in own thread, but what I definitely know is that anyone who is into art (not necessary digital), should read this.

This this this this! This is just what I was thinking about! You can be a great designer, but without luck, your ideas might suck sometimes.
On topic: Dude, thank you very much for this!! This is clear and ultra helpful
Is that guide made by you? Are you interested in making moar? I would like to keep reading ^^

You're welcome.
And no, like I said in the first post, all credits for this guide go to Zenron. There is a link to his DA up here, he has some resources and other tutorials which cover techniques on how he made a specific tag (the more common type of tutorial) rather than an overall guide.
