Hello Sargeras, lately i've been debating on giving cata another try, last time i got to level 35 and gave up, wondering if right now is a good time to bother starting again, considering the 4.3.4 upgrade and no instances working yet, i'm mainly a pve player with very little interest in pvp, so should i start now or wait a while?

I would honestly wait because leveling up at the moment is very difficult due to the number of bugged quests in addition to lack of flight path access. Level 81-85 is especially difficult since it ends up being a grind fest. Then after that considering that you are a fresh player won't have access to gold which will be the primary way of gearing up as faction reputation rewards are not something you can acquire at this point. Your main method would be to get carried a lot in BGs and accumulate Honor until you have enough to convert for JP and buy gear. As a fellow PVE player myself you really won't have much content to access outside of the listed dungeons above and BoT (which has ended up with more bugs) and then you can't exactly farm older instances for transmog gear or other fun stuff. I could go on but long story short this just isn't a very good time due to the transition phase still ongoing.

for most people i'd tell them it's NOT worth starting now, simply because the 3 hour que and 90% of **** not working.
but since you're donor the first wont really affect you, so i would go ahead. i had no problem leveling 80-85 in northrend

the only thing about wotlk is the pve there is not as good. everything is on farm for everyone since icc has been available for years. whats the fun in pve if there is no real progression

thanks for the replies guys, think i'll at least download it and try it for a few hours, if it's to bad i'll just leave it until it's updated some more, biggest reason i'm gonna try it out is i just got loremaster on wotlk, and tbh i'm very bored now without something to work forward to.
edit: any race suggestions? i'm fairly experienced with a hunter in wotlk, debating on doing the same in cata, what race would be best on horde side?

i dont hear enough ppl bring it up mostly everyone says human but u really only get a little extra damage/healing from the extra pve trinket nightelf shadowmeld in arena if used correctly can literally out right win the game or even act as a whole second pvp trinket avoiding cc's. its not that hard to juke casted cc's such as poly and lock fear with it. some people are able to juke instant casts like hoj and stuff but i am not that good.
also say you are in a frost nova as a warrior or something about to get shatter combo'd you can just meld and tell that mage to go f himself. the way you look i think doesnt mater as it is not that difficult to model change your character to something else.

If its PVE wouldn't orc necessarily have the best racial due to having a CD on use, plus if you're hunter they gain a slight buff.

i've decided to go with troll for the dmg increase with bows, seems i've run into a bugged quest tho (not really surprised)

Well that is something that you wont experiece on the Cata realms. Now there is atleast something to work forward to unlike the WoTLK realms. New raid at the end of this month too.
Levling is hard right now but once you hit lvl 85 you will not regret it at all!

that last part can be said for people with prior characters on here, but people with FRESH 85s are kind of stuck in the 'no gear' part.
when i dinged 85 on my priest i was still wearing level 12 greens and only had 1 cataclysm item. there was no way i was going to go straight into HC pve and no one on global runs regular content for gearing up (probably because none of it actually works except SC).
if you want to PVP here, great, you can just BG for gear. if you want to PVE you're gonna spend awhile just farming gear before you can do anything
