Wisdom, the Light's Blessing
Chapter 1: I just wanted to have a happy life...
- - Our story begins in the township of Tyr's Hand, in the entryway corridor of the small chapel of the Silver Hand. Alone stands a teenage girl eavesdropping on the conversations being held within the next chamber. Doing her best to make a little sound as possible, she lingers, hoping to hear word on the rumors that have been spreading throughout the town. Rumors of the walking dead, and what the Knights might plan to do in order to combat the evil...
- - "... and what exactly are you suggesting? That there could be more of them?! Yes, we all know that the undead only gather in small groups around a necromancer, a lich, or the occasional haunting."
- - "Precisely. The sightings and reports we have been getting do not fit well with what we know. People have been disappearing, entire villages. There's also supposed sightings of a small army. Things like this are not the work of a single necromancer or lich. Something dark is on the move."
- - Upon hearing these words, the girl gasps in fear and surprise. One of the men in the inner chamber notices this, turns and walks out into the corridor.
- - "What are you doing here? You should not be listening to these discussions! They are not for the ears of young girls! Get out of here, and go home! Your father would not be very happy with you if he were to find out that you were meddling in the Knight's business."
- - The girl runs from the man confronting her, and upon exiting the chapel, she is suddenly grabbed by the arm and pulled to the side. She turns and faces the person to see her father.
- - "What have I told you about meddling? Lyn, you know better. If any rumors were started because of what you've overheard, Uther would have my hide. You know that the matters we have to deal with now are urgent, and we don't need everyone knowing about the troubles that lie ahead. Now, you go home and think about what you've done. You had better be ready to tell me everything you've heard by the time I get home. Now go!"
- - Her father letting go of her arm, she turned and ran as quickly as she can, lifting her dress up to knee-height, across the road and up the right side. Following the road around the left side of the cathedral, Lyn goes through the gate, and into the town. Almost in tears, she reaches the front door of her home. Hoping not to have her father not too angry at her, she quickly tries to think of what to say, but before Lyn could think much on the situation, the door flies open.
- - "There you are! I've been looking for you for the past hour!", yells a woman in a old and dirty gown as she grabs Lyn by the arm and pulls her inside.
- - "Marie... I'm scared", Lyn says in a hushed tone to the lady.
- - "Scared about what, dear?", the woman questioned.
- - "I was doing something I shouldn't have. I was hiding inside the chapel, listening to the men there discuss what's going on, and what the Knights plan to do about it. Dad caught me, and the things I heard... I don't understand... I ...", Lyn explains the situation, speaking faster as she goes on, until she stumbles on her own words and loses herself in thought.
- - Marie puts her hand on her hip, and tilts her head and looks at the girl, "You know doing that can get your father into some serious trouble. If you go and tell anyone what you've heard, you'll be risking any possible operations of the Knights, and you may stir fear in the villagers. You don't want that, do you? Now come here and help me finish up this food before your father gets home."
- - A few hours go by before the two finish cooking and preparing the meal, as they do every night. This night was different though. The girl had a lot on her mind. Things that she heard, and things that she worried about that were going to happen. Her most immediate worry was her father, and how he may act when he got home. Would he be angry? She dared not mention a word of it to the maid, though. She knew that what she had heard was very important information. Just like the maid had told her, and her father had told her, she couldn't risk the information getting out early. A knock can be heard at the door, and Lyn knew who it was. It was time for him to be home. It was late, and the light from outside had greatly dimmed. Gently and slowly, she turned the knob on the door, and pulled it open, and her father walked in the door. Another man walked in with him, but was larger and heavily armored in semi-ornate plate mail.
- - "Ary, this man needs to have a talk with you. Do not worry about what I said to you earlier. I'm not angry with you, and I have already been informed of what you overheard. Ary, this is Uther. Uther, this is my daughter, Ary. Marie, please come outside with me."
- - The girl's eyes widened. "Uther? The Uther? Come to see me? Why me? Was what I did so horrible? Why does he show personal interest?", she thought to herself.
Notes;
As you can tell, it is a work in progress. I've been thinking long and hard about this, and I really wanted to start writing again. At the current time, I just can't get myself back into my other story, but I may finish it at any time. Depends on my mood. Anyway, I had finally thought of how to start this story, so I wanted to get it in writing before I forget it. Also, I wanted to give those who like to read what I write a bit of a taste of what is to come. I'll try to keep everyone posted on when I update this post with more material.
Why do you write so much in your character bios, but hardly roleplay ingame? I write. It's what I enjoy. It's how I roleplay.

This story likely won't ever be completed though. Apologies. This story was written back in 2012.
