I'm a Hunter who cannot use ranged attacks. Please help.

I have a Pandaren hunter who is still stuck in the opening quest line so I can't get help in game. Whenever I try to use my crossbow it tells me I must have a ranged weapon equipped, even though I do. I've tried unequipping but the game won't let me, it just says "Can't do that right now". Please help as this is game breaking.

Exit game, delete cache in both main folder and data folder, log back in, thank me.

Turns out I didn't need to do any of that. Just needed to die. I'll thank you anyway for taking the time to respond.
