Ahh poor MoP.
Ideally, for arenas you want to use Monkeys. Cranes are also great pets.
Unfortunately, the pet ability "Smack" is bugged and does 200 damage, and so by using these great pets, you lose a large amount of dps (Bite does 20k).
In BGs, you have more options. Spiders, Gorillas (put these on healers, and interrupt using a focus macro for mad lulz), and buff pets are all great.
Currently, I'm using spiders as my main pets in both BGs and Arenas, because I find the dps loss to be way too large.
Hope I helped?
thanks but this wasnt my question lol, but i went and just spec as "cunning" for my pet talent, is there anyway to change specs for pets?
also what are some must ( not focus=target) macros for mm?
I have 4 pets on me at all times.
Cat-mastery buff, good if you play with healer or some other class that benefits from mastery
Wolf-crit buff, good for double dps combo and duels
Bird-disarm, good against wars, hunters, rogues
Fox-slow down casting speed, good if a healer is left alone in arena and tries to act smart, or against spell casting combos
Buff pets benefit both you and your party/raid. CC-ing pets,as good as they are, have too long cd, in my opinion. You should master cc-ing on your own, especially as MM. And cunning for specs.
You should ALWAYS spec Cunning, regardless of arena or BG. This is because RoS (Roar of Sacrifice) will keep you alive in arenas, and it will keep your healers alive in BGs.
I actually don't agree with Callisto not taking CC pets. CC pets are the most used, and if you look up retail glads, you will see they all used Monkeys and Cranes. This is because CC is just plain OP. There is never enough CC ever.
As for macros, I can give you some simple ones from memory, I'm at work atm...
/cast [@mouseover,exists,harm][@focus,exists,harm][@target] Scatter Shot/Silence Shot/Wyvern Sting/Monkey Blind etc.
These will cast the CC on mouseover, if it exists; otherwise will look for a focus target, otherwise will cast on current target.
You should also have 3 MC/RoS macros for arenas (3v3) or 2 for arenas
/cast [@party1] Master's Call/RoS
/cast [@player] Master's Call/RoS
aaand you can do a mouseover MC/RoS too
/cast [@mouseover,exists,noharm][@target] Master's Call/Roar of Sacrifice.
These handle most of your CC/Peeling macros.
For Kill shot I recommend using:
#showtoolip
/stopcasting
/stopcasting
/cancelaura Hand of Protection
/cancelaura Deterrence
/cast Kill Shot
(command to hide UI errors that I forgot :P)
Also, I like to macro some abilities like deterrence to have stopcasting, since steady shot cannot be cancelled while moving, so if you try to deter while casting steady shot, you won't be able to get it off until the steady shot finishes or you cancel it.
#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/stopcasting
/cast Deterrence
I also use a macro to manage all my aspects and another to manage pets but I don't remember them off by heart :D
