You can't ban addons from a game! That's silly :P Those who use gearscore will wipe on the bosses for sure :)
well, if you want to avoid gearscore based raids, join a guild lol...
never understood those pugs anyway...
Being in a guild or not, you will always have to interact with other players (a normal 'rdf' run for an instance) and when you do, a four digit number shouldn't be what determines wheather you are good enough.
never saw the problem in GS itself... the problem is with ppl who require too high gs for specific place, like stupid ppl want 5k GS for dungs. anyway the GS is fine, blame ppl who dont know the real requirement for a place (and yes, i think there should be some kind of a limit, u dont suppose to let full green into ICC right?)
and think of that as a raid leader... u dont wanna waste time on checking every1s item lvl, GS is just a good tool for that, even if there will be no GS, ppl still will inspect u, but it will just take much more time

Well in a way its good because there are players Who play Melee DPS (paladins, Warroirs, Rogues) but Equiped with Intel items. So people just check thier GS and get them into the Group.
What hegerker089 hinted towards; players stop thinking about what items they equip as long as they got that better gearscore than the previous one, regardless of which stats it has. And also when it comes to inviting players to your group, the leader tends to drag everyone over the same line in terms of damage output. Let's say a warrior with 5k gearscore joins a group for a rdf run. He/she performs extremely poorly and when the rdf is complete the leader thinks: "Hm that warrior didn't do any damage whatsoever, I better increase the gearscore requirement for that class", and so the vicious cycle begins. But, instead the real problem was that this particular player could not play his/hers class all.
While I agree with you, Nazara, that the addon itself might not be the problem but the players using it, but if the player base is not ready to wield this addon with logic and reason, it can't be enabled (because it has completley obliteraded Deatwhing and Ragnaros). Though I hope Lordaeran attracts a more mature audience (since the x1 xp rates usually sets the men a part from the boys) I still have my conerns.
That's the point imo. GS addon can not accurately tell you if a person has a adequate gear on himself. You need to inspect him to be sure of it.
man in serious raids they inspect anyway to watch for that int gear and so on, but whatever i just will join a guild and im done, i dont really care for GS, and its not that hard to get gear, just time. anyway they cant ban the addon usage coz its an addon after all, and it doesnt change that ppl will inspect u , see item level less then 200 or 200 and just tell u to fuk off, so everthing is the same. yeah its hard as a new guy in the server but its always like that (at least u will be here from the start)
Bash the addon all you want, it's still a useful tool, any half brained dead monkey can learn a simple rotation and in no world will a 2k gs beat a 6k gs, which is why people ask for more GS, it USUALLY means decent enough skill.
And don't present me 1 example where this isn't true, there are 100 more where higher gs>more help in said raid, so it is vital for PUG's.
Also it's an addon, you can't ban an addon.
IF you want raids that aren't based on that, join a guild, they usually don't require anything but a will to listen.
Actually, you can. In the World.config file has a directory called Banned Addons. You can add Gearscore to that list.
Or maybe they should ban (delete, but w/e) ******ed threads, i start to get tired of them, 100 threads with same question, when lord release bla bla bla
and to stay on topic, i`m one of the person that approve grearscore, and to be sure that you get even more annoyed, i dont ask for 5k in rdf, if you ever saw, i`m one of the guys that ask +5.5.
While gearscore has bred a somewhat superficial culture in that high GS equates to high skill, it is a helpful reference point. You'll see that in global people add a GS requirement in order to turn away players without adequate gear. It serves as a filter. Filter is an important word within this context since it means that you still have to inspect whatever made it through the filter. Imagine if you didn't add a GS requirement, you'd have a lot more people PMing you asking to join your raid, and you'll only find out later that they don't suit the gear requirement.
Time and time again, we have to repeat ourselves.
The problem isn't the addon, it's the players not knowing how to use it.
The full version (not lite) offers a /gs <name/target> function which even shows you if his gear is adequate to his class/spec or if it's pvp/pve. It's like an inspect on steroids. It's a great qol addon, disabling it would be a huge mistake.
GS is perfectly fine. Random inbreds that demand 5,5k gs for a RDF HC are the problem. Those things won't happen in a x1 realm where you cannot be a brainless gs bi*ch like the majority of the people behave in the fun rates. Also - get a guild.
