thx a lot for your answers and help,

  2. Hello hiitsjustme, i would recommend downloading the Warmane specific client ( https://www.warmane.com/download ) as there are nearly infinite possibilities that could cause your issue. First and foremost you could be using a custom client that supersedes login capability to any other servers/realms other than intended. Secondly, forgive me if I sound rude, but did you make sure you are connecting to Warmane with the correct client (there is not a one size fits all client for the three expansions you may choose from) and finally, Warmane requires you to login with your (Warmane) username and password, not an email associated with your account. I hope I helped you and if my advice fixes your issues, welcome to Warmane!

  3. There is no ned to redownload anything.

What Expansion and Patch is your current client?

  4. Any of expansion past the Cataclysm had a complete rework in how it handles connection to the server - especially mists I'm aware of it needing more than just a realmlist change. However most of the core game files do indeed remain intact.
With regards to it being a client from another server its perfectly feasible that they implemented some kind of retention feature within the files or connection queries i could think of a few ways of doing it and I've not even made myself a coffee :D but with regards to the OP's query if you are using the Wotlk 3.35a client a simple adjustment of the realmist will need to be made by deleteinng the previous server login information and replacing it with "set realmlist logon.warmane.com" (without the quotes)
