There isn't much dungeons to run for fun anyways (talking lower level ones here). And people do play game for the sake of achievements. I'm sorrounded by people doing te achievement wh... errr, hunting, it's just that people became more reluctant to do those after 2 moltdowns. It'll take some time to pick up the pace. Also, there's the fact, that new stuff gets released (ToT for example) and people wanna get gear first and do casual stuff later.
Mount variety is killed by the fact that mounts are broken (call it visual bugs if you will, but to me it's unplayable), so people stick to either panthers (still broken, but pretty convenient anyway cause it can be used anywhere and shows you got them goldz to buy one) or the mounts whose size doesn't go crazy. As soon as mounts are fixed (if they are fixed), you'll see a lot more variety.
As for pets, most hunters I see just go for abilities cause they are 'obliged' to do so. I personally took Mulgore doge cause it barks when you click it and white tiger cat, just because it's pretty. Coincidentally they have the abilities that suit me best.
He's talking of WotLK realm considering he mentioned Lordaeron. We don't have mount problems.
And well, I like doing everything, pvp, pve, achievs. Used to have around 120 mounts before MD, now I'm on 83 :D
This is one of the reasons I play by myself on Warmane. Cause I can play at my own pace and no one should criticize me for it. (Some do sadly.)
He mentioned Lord, but said he's on x7 realm.
Reason? That's no reason to play alone. I've never even seen someone get bashed for not being hard-core pvp-er or pve-er. I don't see how anyone can affect your playing pace. Is someone actually pointing a gun at you if you don't go from point B to point A, or do x number of dungeons or BGs?Originally Posted by romz
If you're playing without a guild you're missing a huge aspect of game. You don't have to be a hermit just because you heard that someone once in a land far away said that achievment whor... hunting! is for casuals.
Paraphrasing what one guy once said: You decide your own level of involvment.
And if you don't want to get involved in 'regular' stuff then you just don't do it. There's no consequence for things like that in this game.
All realms are on x7 tho :P
And somewhat I doubt he's talking about MoP because on MoP you can't do almost anything of pre-MoP content.

Hope that they will open Stratholme, Karazhan etc. instances so we can start to farm those mounts.
Imo there's an ignore button for that kind of stuff, and it works quite well! I don't even bother looking at people's gs in a dungeon, dammit you can do a rhc with half naked people lol.
before the moltdown there were plenty of people who enjoyed achievement hunting and exploring/doing everything in the game. I had somewhere between 8K-9K achievement points. Personally I can't be bothered anymore to start that whole grind again.
See I wanna grind for high end achievements in mop....but theres a problem...none of em work
I am one of those players who don't give a **** about playing hardcore, I play for fun...Achievements,rep farming, Hanging around chating with people makes me happy...long live the casuals
I refuse to be one of those ******s who care more about stats than having fun #Bloodelfs
Konijn is right, even after reasonable time has already passed,it will take some time for people to ''settle'' again.
Right now almost everyone is trying to get their character to the point it was before the moltdown,so stuff like achievement hoarding e.t.c. is not high on everyone's list of to-do things.
Let's also not forget the fact that as konijn pointed out, alot of people cannot be bothered to hunt for achievements and stuff because what they did have before was done over months/years of labor.
There are also those who still don't trust warmane to not get screwed over again, and just won't risk fully devoting to their characters.
Also, stuff like casual play works on retail because everything works, quests, achievements, all available content is at the tip of your fingers, here most of it (esp on MoP and Cata realms) is not available, and most likely never will be since enabling old content screws molten on votes and possible donations, and what little there is,half of it is broken in some way,so casual play most of the times can turn into a frustration uncompareable to that of pvp'ers and pve'ers.
Then again, playing World of Warcraft as a solo game,is like playing Call of Duty as a driving simulator.
I am playing on MOP and i have around 2700 achv points so far. Is there any thread where we can learn which achvs are working on mop?
