1. Intellect or Spirit Resto Druid

I've just started playing on Lordaeron and I plan on going resto druid later in pve/pvp.

Now I saw that there are two variants of gear. One with only intellect, and one with intellect+spirit. What I was wondering if there's a consensus on which one is better for restoration.

    .....

Spirit gives you mana back and increases your spell power. There is no consensus. Spirit gear is just better unless you are aiming for haste cap or min maxing your heals and already have plenty of spirit. There are plenty of guides out there to help you. Especially since Lord is still in patch 3.3.5 like the other realms. Only difference is you don't have access to icc, toc, and ulduar gear yet.

  3. The perfect itemization for Resto Druids is the same as Holy Priests and Demonology Warlocks:

    Stamina
    Intellect
    Spirit
    Haste
    Spell Power

Here is an excellent example, and also your BiS chest.

All of your gear will have Stamina, Intellect and Spell Power on it anyway just because that's how all caster gear is. The question is regarding the 2 other combat stats which you're after. And these are Spirit and Haste.

Spirit is superior to mp5 for Resto Druids because they also gain spell power from it. Haste is a much needed stat too because it makes your HoTs tick faster and even adds more ticks, thus directly increasing your healing per second and overall healing. Crit is a very weak stat for you because HoTs can't crit and because you get +25% crit from Nature's Bounty anyway for Living Seed.

  4. Irrelevant.

Intellect is on EVERY last piece of healer gear you will be using: So the question isn't about the intellect - you ARE going to have intellect on each item you will use, that's not a question, you WILL have intellect no matter what. The same applies to Stamina and Spell power.(excluding trinkets, which are another matter entirely)

The Relevant discussion here is about what stat you are sacrificing in order to GET the spirit. Most items will have 5 stats on them: Of which Stamina, Intellect and Spell Power are guaranteed to be 3 of them.

This leaves the other 2 stats to be either Spirit, Haste, Crit or Mp5.

As you can see, the choice when deciding whether to get spirit gear is not related at all to Intellect, Stamina or Spell Power as those 3 will be guaranteed, but which 2 of Spirit, Haste, Crit or MP5 you would prefer.

    And in my experience
Enough MP5 not to oom(an oom healer may as well be dead, frankly, or worse, as you're just wasting other healers' mana to keep alive) > Haste > Spirit(for SP/mana) > Extra Mp5 incase of rough boss fights/Low DPS > Crit for resto druid that are raid healing. (Because lets face it, nourish spammer druids are bad compared to Hpalas and should really reroll class or L2 Rejuv)

If you're going PvP, then there is no solid answer other than getting enough Survival gear to stay alive and keep your 2's partner/ other teammates alive
