Helloooo, I am new to the community (on WotLK-Deathwing right now, but planning to move to MoP-Frostwolf once the new version is online) and I'm very curious about the RP side of Warmane! At a cursory glance, a lot of the threads here seem to be focused on guild creation, rather than player interaction... So, I thought to ask: What kinds of RP does everyone like? Action/Adventure? Romance? Political manipulation? What's your genre? What kind of characters do you enjoy playing?
I'll start us off! I enjoy playing characters that are very motivated by their own self-interest. They can't really be pigeonholed into specific categories like "good" or "evil" - they're capricious (though often malicious). Many of them want to gain wealth or power by any means necessary, which leads a lot of them to doing cruel things. But I also like seeing them do their best to adhere to a moral code, during this endless pursuit of power; especially if that moral code begins to slip away from them. For that reason, I think Blood Elves are my favorite race go play. Original, I know.
(When I get to Frostwolf, you'll be seeing plenty of this in my pseudo-neutral Blood Elf mage babe Lys.)
I guess it really is Frostwolf where people have moved these days, huh?
Back to the topic!
I'd say I try various venues, but I mostly prefer natural progression from a civilian's position. Medic, gardener, merchant, marketing specialist in the field of Goblin-related insurance... you name it, it may happen! I can go level-headed, rascal, or absolutely eccentric (in WoW Gnomes just hit the right spot with that), though I never got to think much in the good-neutral-evil cathegories. They just seem too fixed to make sense.
Most important part is where this will go! Perhaps the gardener gets abducted by a group of bandits, who will feel sorry for her, or gets press-ganged? Maybe a druid will keep insisting that she can druid if she JUST DO IT! Who knows, maybe the merchant will be cursed by a warlock for scamming him on carrots for 1 copper or gets robbed and will need to change occupation?
Granted, the problem with my model is that there need to be others. Still, I've tried it in many mmos and always had much fun!
I stopped playing Frostwolf with my gnomes months ago and only visited now and then because :
-I'm 90 and runs out of things to do
-My guildmates have moved on
-Too.... pvp heavy, not even talking about world PvP. Every time you go to Goldshire, you will see 90s wreaking havoc duelling on the crossroad. And sometimes people frown at RP there (one even said 'this is PvP only' ._.)
At most I've only RPed once in Warmane with some random people, but most of the time people in Alliance usually care about besting one another. Not sure about the Horde though.
And now I've moved to Lordaeron/Deathwing, mostly the first one. In Lordaeron I at least found 1 Draenei through the rp-ooc channel, but time difference and level gap kinda make it hard, so we have only met once just to check on each others.
I haven't got myself committed to Deathwing, but overall it's 80s everywhere. I don't know anyone in Deathwing and never made contact with anyone
Welcome Symphonia, to this server.
I am always actively searching for ppl to do some RP with.
But the problem you describe is very real. In order for us to stick together, or to even be connected (what is already challenging)
we need to build op this community in guilds.
But I agree with you about the character intro pages. I thing there is no unwritten rule about not doing that and I am very curious to read about yours!
At the moment I am on Frostwolf. Both on Alliance and on Horde.
On Alliance I'm part of The Collectors. A RP guild build around a story (that changes depending how we RP).
At the moment I am trying to build up a Horde community, or at least find ppl on the Horde side.
I almost finished a Tauren Sunwalker, although I am not really sure I like to play the race... Maybe I will transfer to Belf.
I am working on the backstory and introduction anyway, and I would love to share it with you all.
My main concept of playing is based around the ideal of being part of a trio/duo. Being the second hand and very helpfull.
I mainly play healers and light warriors that are in service for the greater good/(evil if necessary). I can Imagine my character to be part of a twin.
