dps geared prot warr in ICC

Recently I have joined a icc rep farm pug raid and noticed that my 100% arp geared prot warr can deal some massive dmg. I pulled 15k single target dps on this giant skeleton and I wasnt even fully raid buffed and had no bl.
I know that a dps geared prot warr is a terrible tank when it comes to survivability but i guess it should be possible to tank some bosses in ICC.

Now im wondering how well a bis geared dps prot warr with 100%arp and double t10 2set bonus would performe compared to other bis geared damage dealer.
Under perfect circumstances it might even be possible to deal 20k single target dps as long as the prot has the aggro of the boss and can use revenge.
Maybe prot warr has even the potential to be the best dps out there.

You can not tank any ICC boss with dps gear regardless of your spec. This means you won't be able to use revenge at all. Also there's the possibility of pulling the aggro of the tanks if they are bad or there's no md used, etc.

It should be possible to tank a few bosses in icc 25 if u have decent healers.
I know dps prot isnt for serious raiding.
It would rather be for fun to check out what dps numbers can be reached.

I used to run 540 def and dps gear for some bosses in normals. (it was 70% arp I believe) That way you are able to pull decent dmg (cca 10k single target), and are not that squishy (still better than freshly geared tank suitable for that content).

My point was more how much dps a bis damage geared prot warr is able to pull in icc.
I dealed 15k single target dps in average with out bl and not fully raid buffed.
So im curious if a prot warr has the potential to be the best dmg dealer in certain boss fights.

Survivability is a different story, I only care about what dps numbers can be reached.

Small update:
I was yesterday in a icc 10 pug raid as prot dps.
Did around 10k average dps in a boss fight and was usually rank two on recount.
Offtanking in Icc normal mode also seems to work fine in dps gear. Was always able to survive.

Only problem is that prot dps can deffently steal the main tanks aggro with the massive shield slam dmg so the MT needs to taunt a lot.
Nevertheless i guess prot dps pulls enough dps to be even on hc mode viable.

i still dont get ur idea: are u tanking(off tanking) while being def capped and stacked dps gear(trinkets, wep, arp gems) or just trying to yolo dps as prot ( meh, if u're not getting any revenge proc's how u can even dps)?

I recommand dpsing in battel/zerk stance only evry 30 sec swaping to def stance to cast shield block. in battel stance u wont generate mutch treath so u tecnicli cant take aggro. ( i know my english aint the best) and yes prot dps is 0 value in raids.

The idea behind it is simply fun. I have a complete dps geared prot warr with 6,5k gs which I use for pvp and I was just curious how much dps I can pull in PvE with such a gear setup..
Its no benefit for the raid to have a dps geared prot warr since fury deals more dps, its just for fun to check out what dps numbers can be reached.

Sounds like a good idea. As long as I dont OFF tank I cant use revenge anyway so it should even be a dps increase to just stay in Berserker Stance.

@ Valthiria Dreamweaver fight. Prot/dps gear is way better than Fury dpsers. More survivalty, more cc, more dmg.

Thats highly possible. As long as the prot warr has aggro he can pull some enormous dmg. Especially on multiple mobs he can pull some really nice aoe with revenge, cleave and shockwave.

I don't understand why doing only dps with it. When you have def cap you can actually solo tank pretty much whole (except lk and ship) 10n in mostly dps gear. While having even slightly higher dps since you get to actually use your revenge and have plenty of rage.

The thing is that I have only prot pvp gear so no def cap. Im not even expertice and hit capped so when it comes to pure dps there is still lots of space for improvement.

Staying in berserker or battle stance makes u able to dps without stealing the main tanks aggro at all.
When I dont have aggro the dps is significant lower because no revenge and no enrage (+10% dmg):

Nevertheless, on boss encounters where I never had aggro I dealed always around 11-13k dps. I think its not that bad when u consider that im not expertice nor hit capped.
