1. The Power of PvE gear in PvP

    Disclaimer:
I have no notable reputation as a Warrior.
I just like to compare stuff.

In every Warrior PvP guide there are various PvE items listed in the BiS list or in the Starter Gear list. Everybody seems to know that PvE gear is very strong on Warriors for PvP but nobody ever explains in detail why that is the case.

In search of an explanation i made 2 Human Warriors.
One was required to wear full PvP gear, except for one ring and the trinkets.
The other warrior had free choice of gear.
I testet this on Blackrock, which means that the Item level for Off-set pieces was limited to 264.
I also required both Warrior to have atleast 1.1k Resilience, which is a reasonable amount for 2vs2 against double Dps or 3vs3.
Also the mixed Warrior had to have as much Attack Power as the PvP geared one.
    Both needed 5% hit.

Both Warrior where specced with a Standard Arms Spec with 2/2 Strenght of Arms, 5/5 Armed to the Teeth, 3/3 Cruelty and 5/5 Axe Specialisation.

    The results:
    Full PvP Gear:
    4748 Attack Power
    38,94 % Crit
    1158 Resilience
    44,23 % Arp
    35841 HP

    Mixed Gear:
    4761 Attack Power
    42,02%Crit
    1119 Resilience
    51,66 % Arp
    33351 HP

EventhoughI had to gem some strenght on the mixed Warrior to get enough Attack Power the result is still in his Favor.
The extra Stamina from the full PvP gear is pretty much useless. It only helps you in a 1vs1 or if you are in danger of getting 100%-0% while your Healer is cced ( which should not happen at 1.1k resi). That also makes the extra resi of the PvP gear built quite useless.

So flatout you get like about +3% crit and about +6% Arp by using the PvE gear.
This gap becomes even bigger if you have Acces to PvE gear with ItemLevel 277 or even 284.

Overall the PvP Gear Warrior has just limited options.
The mixed Warrior may drop some Resilience in favor of more Arp or Attack Power by changing some Gems.

The PvP geared Warrior can never drop Resilience or Stamina. He is doomed to be an almost unkillable HP bubble with an MS function.

The PvE geared Warrior can choose between "Glass Canon" at 900 Resi and reasonably tanky with mediocore damage at 1.1k Resi.
The PvP geared Warrior can choose between lowish damage at 1.1k Resi and almost unkillable with low damage at 1.3k Resi ( or even more).

This show that unless you want to do only 1v1 against Rogues and Mages (only two classes you can outsustain (hope they don't have First Aid or Potions jk)) you are better of with some PvE pieces in your set.

    Best Regards and Happy Smashing

  2. I testet this on Blackrock, which means that the Item level for Off-set pieces was limited to 264.
But this is the thing, heroic offpieces are a much higher ilvl than wrathful, which means they provide a huge stat boost. So basically you replace every 264 ilvl item to a 277 or 284 to get as much stats as you possibly can, keep the main set because it's 270 ilvl and you really need the resil, and just gem out resil as much as you want to balance it out.

  3. Isn't that exactly what i said? A warrior will gain a massive power increase by using PvE items, even if they are only item level 264.
This increase will of course get even bigger if you can use items with item Level 277 and 284.

The way i did the test even favoured the full PvP warrior by setting 1.1k Resi as a minimun and he still "lost".
