1. Constant lag for 4+ days.

    Hello,

So, for the past 4+ days the server has been laggy for me. Anyone else? I've checked/restarted my end, computers and routers and such, but it still persists.
Right when I log in, I'm sitting at 400+ ms latency and if i go to a BG, it spikes to 2000+ ms. Was stuck in Eye of the Storm at 6000 ms; the BG had ended by the time my message *****ing about the lag had posted.

I did the speedtest.com checks and everything on my end looks good, 40 ms ping, 20 mb download, 1 mb upload on multiple servers. Whenever I ping logon.warmane.com I get 147 ms average. Basically, WTF? Why am I getting so much lag from Warmane. Lag makes the game unplayable.

  2. Yea it is terrible. Lagspikes and more lagspikes. Sometimes its good for one hour but suddenly lag comes in a way. Like you I've checkd my connection and so and all seems to be good.

  3. Do you use the AT&T ISP in the United States? If so, then that's the problem. It's a nationwide AT&T problem affecting all private servers for the last several days, as I discussed in the thread below.

I changed my ISP (was thinking of doing that anyway) and it solved the problem.

  4. And see, that makes absolutely no sense. AT&T is specifically targeting this private server? Every other game I have (on Steam) plays perfectly fine. And like I wrote, I did the speed checks, 4 times with 4 different ISP hubs and they were fine. Number don't lie and the one I'm seeing is 4500+ ms latency with Warmane.

  5. It's routing problem. You can try WTFast, Mudfish or similar programs. Or buy own VPN near France.

  6. Old problem returned, as it was in PTR and Cata servers, for past 1-2 weeks there is this slight delay, but mostly in pvp, I think it started after old content opening. Main problem seem to be lag/delay on information package sending/transfer versus players, for example, you feel no lag on abilities, but when you try to chase and hit players with melee classes, you can not, it says that you are out of range with it, even though you right next to him, and this happends a lot, no matter that MS is around 30+.

Do you have AT&T? Then that's your problem. You can disbelieve me if you like, but it's still the case. There's a long thread about it on the forum of a large vanilla server. Oh wait, that's a different server than Warmane. Everyone in that thread (about 10 posters) uses AT&T and is having the same problem. Kind of a big coincidence don't you think?

A VPN fixes the problem, but unfortunately most of those are blocked on Warmane. I was having the problem with Warmane til I switched ISPs and am fine.

It seems to be a problem with AT&T's connection to OVH, the host used by most private servers.

Your games on steam are in the US I assume. They would not be affected. Try connecting to some other private servers who use OVH and see what happens.

Dude it's not the AT&T only. I live in europe and im using other isp and I'm having the same problem..

  9. Afaik, it's not entirely an ISP issue, but some faulty node/s in the connection between user and destiny (that's why different ISPs might have the same issue since the info travels through the same faulty node/s). I know it, because I've had this issue before, and it can last from a couple of days to weeks.

  10. As Kron says, this sort of thing that affects just certain ISPs/regions come from issues in the infrastructure used to reach our host. Despite how people seem to think connecting to something is some sort of straight pipe, making it so "I can connect to X just fine!!!" seems valid as argument, the internet isn't called a web because someone like spiders. There are many paths to reach the same destination, and if an ISP's routing leads it to one having problems, that will cause issues until that's solved somehow. None of that is under Warmane's authority, responsibility or even capability to solve. An issue on our host would lead to every player having problems, not just some.

True, but I will say that dealing with the problem is harder on Warmane than other private servers I'm on, since you guys block pretty much all VPNs to fight gold sellers. I accept that's a legitimate management decision, and I certainly don't want gold sellers, but a downside of that policy is that if a Warmane player has connection problems he can't fix them with a VPN.

I was wondering if Warmane could set up their own VPN for their players to use (or subscribe to if you'd rather it be a premium feature.) My impression (correct me if I'm wrong) is that setting up a VPN isn't all that hard for tech saavy people like you guys. That way, your players would have a option for dealing with these routing issues, and, as the owner of the VPN, you could just ban any gold sellers and the like who try to use it.

Yeah, I'm not saying that AT&T users are the only ones with routing issues, but if you ARE an AT&T user in the US (as I understood the guy above me to be) and you've been having severe lag issues on Warmane for the last several days only, then that is almost 100% an AT&T issue. I had the issues (up to 2k ms in bgs) every time I logged on for several days, but they were totally fixed when I changed ISPs.
