So, I'm a heavy healer player and honestly don't mind which one I play, so I was wondering what are the main healing classes needed? I see there's a lot of Paladins, but are many of them holy? In addition, my main choices were generally Hpala and Rshaman but just wondering which one is needed more

From my experience there is lack of Rdudus, especially skilled ones. But idk rly I haven't raided that much lately.
This Thread should be sticky, althougj its not up to date.
id say that Shamans the less played healers.
There is a reason that isn't stickied and why another census can't be posted. Should the OP wish to see the numbers himself he should download the census addon used for that thread.
Based on what I've seen and on the information I have gathered using the aforementioned addon, Restoration Shamans are the least common healers.

Going a bit OT, but why are RShamans so unpopular? I mean they aren't topping the charts, they arent nearly as good as hpalas on single target healing ( especially here in buffed Naxx ) and their AoE is not that good like RDudus is, but they're versatile and easy to play.

They aren't. Shaman are as popular as many other classes, but keep in mind that they have 3 viable talent trees for raiding. If evenly distributed, only 1/3 of all shaman will be playing restoration

Most classes have 3 viable specs for raiding, however in terms of healing composition you ideally don't need more than 1 Restoration Shaman in a raid nor are they required like a Holy Paladin or Discipline Priest. Holy Priests and Restoration Druids are usually raid healing filler. A Restoration shaman is like jack of all trades, master of none.
It also doesn't help that Earth Shield is bugged , along with Living Seed and Prayer of Mending, effectively making their tank healing even worse than a Holy Paladin or Discipline Priest.
This is of course my opinion based on my experience and observations from being a healer in one of the top guilds on the server.

Wait.. is Earth Shield bugged? Isn't that one of their main sources of healing, especially on tanks? If this is the case, I may go Hpala but I'm afraid I won't make it into raid teams as there are so many Hpaladins
Earth shield is not bugged. You just can't have 2 earth shields on same tank lol. All these noobs at the forums posting about ''bugs''
It IS bugged. It procs before target takes damage, so if tank is at full hp, it will heal first and then tank will take damage. Since tank usually gets healed to 100% rly fast, Earth Shield does almost nothing. It's stupid and annoying bug.

Earth Shield, Prayer of Mending, and the Living Seed talent are all healing BEFORE damage is taken, meaning those abilities almost always overheal even on fights with constant AoE damage like Sapphiron and Sartharion. Druids are the least affected by this, Priest now have a near-useless ability, however because of how important Earth Shield is for Shamans, it basically ruins their tank healing role. These are confirmed bugs, so they should be fixed sometime soon.
As for not rolling a Restoration Shaman because of this, I would say you should play one anyway if that was your first choice. The bug will be fixed eventually, and there are other roles for you besides tank healing. Although despite how popular Paladins are, most of them are Retribution. Really all healing classes are needed and would easily find a guild in some fashion.
I have many words I would like to say to people like you who are actually the ones who don't know what they are talking about, but these links should be more than enough for you to realize YOU are in the wrong.
Just so to put it all back together, there are a lot of hpalas, moderate amount of priests(both specs?), resto druids are rare and resto shaman are just ghosts?

It is more like
Holy Paladin : Resto Druid: Discipline Priest : Resto Shaman : Holy Priest = 3 : 2 : 2 : 1 : 0.25 *note numbers are estimates
If anyone is a "ghost" it would be Holy Priests and that is because they have severe mana problem with this buffed content.

Do you always see a Holy Paladin in each raid group? Because I feel like it's not rewarding to have two Holy Paladins in a raid group which kinda concerns me when it comes to raiding, where as Resto Shaman is rare so finding raid groups will be fine. However, correct me if I'm wrong.
