In PvE its blood presence for dps and frost presence for tanking. In a fight where you gotta move fast, you might swap to unholy presence (only as dps) but only while moving, dont dps with unholy presence.
In PvP all the presences have their use. Frost presence when you are being pressured, gotta survival offensive cds, healer has been cc'd, etc. Blood presence where burst isnt necesary, so you might aswell put some constant pressure instead. Unholy presence for more bursty dmg, better pet/gargoyle dmg, and a lower gcd on spells (its awesome for interrupts).
I guess in the end, you might use all the presences for both lol
Hope it helps a bit! :)
Use Frost Presence for defense situations. After that choose between Unholy and Blood presence for offense.
Unholy is overall faster playstyle, bursty and dynamic - Personally my favourite, especially against casters. But you have to spend 2 talent points to get IUP alongside it.
Blood is more sustained damage, stronger dots and and overall higher damage. Its generally better for beginners because of the higher gcd. You should get a boot enchant for the speed increase though.
Both are good, pick one.
Blood spec isnt viable in pvp so I wont address it. It's VERY simple.
Use Frost Presence if you HAVE to against MELEE classes. Not against casters. It does work quite well against hunters / rets since majority of their damage does depend on melee damage. Only time Frost presence is used against caster is if you literally have no other option.
Otherwise any time you actually want to actually kill stuff, Unholy Presence.
Why Unholy and not Blood presence? 1 second global cooldown is huge as both frost and unholy spec. Burst people easily, along with side effects of +15% run speed (depending on spec) and faster auto attacks.
You can also survive and control people easier, react to things faster with significantly faster global cooldown.
Blood presence makes pretty numbers and I dont think anyone should care about that. Get results with Unholy presence.
It is not better for beginners (you should get used to faster GCD either way). Get attack power feet enchant.Blood is more sustained damage, stronger dots and and overall higher damage. Inb4 some BG hero will tell us how Blood presence is superior in BGs. I'm addressing this for arena and 1v1. Blood presence is bad for both. You can run in BGs and do nothing for all the presence matters there, doesn't work if you want to win in competive match.
if specced into improve uh presencse, blood pres becomes superior, comparing to uh presence in terms of 1v1 or dueling a melee opponent
I meant to say that blood presence is awesome if you take improved unholy presence as one of your talents. If all your cd's can't kill a target, you should just go blood presence and wait for the right time to switch to unholy and then pop cd's fast to burst something. And not talking about bg's, only arenas.
I don't think blood presence makes things easier, i think unholy presence makes pvping easier, since you can interrupt with a lower gcd.
For bgs for frost presence, since you will probably be at the front of all the mess :)
Out of all 4 interrupts only Strangulate is affected by GCD
