So I noticed that the character models are W.o.D, now I have seen it done kind of before, has anyone ever considered remaking Cata and Mists in the WoTLK engine? I know it would be freaking take a lot of time to get right but is it do-able?

i've read that for 5 times and still didnt got it.
Basically I have seen people add items and zones to wow, WoTLK or 3.3.5a, has all of the phasing, voice, and cut scene cues already in the engine, So I guess in theory you could take say Mists, add all the relevant character models and Maps, and script it, while keeping the 3.3.5a, talent trees, abilities, and difficulty. I think. I don't know, I have seen fans make marrowind in skyrim so is it doable, or is there some limitation that I cant see, i guess is what i'm asking.
aww, thats cleared out for me now. imho, its not doable, since 3.3.5 client is just too ****ing old. just look on that wod model patch -they arent working for 100% (i would say 30% at best) - u cannot change faces of new models (in fact all "new" models have the same face per race), half of hairstyles are bugged, only cuz of polygon limitations which wotlk client have. some zones, however can be added i believe (at least i've seen that on some private emu's). new classes can be added too, but it will be way too buggy ( just look at those numerous fun 3.3.5 servers out there with nagas/worgens/pandas and ****). wow client is just not "user friendly" to make such things
However I have also seen them be working almost perfectly as well, I'm just thinking cause eventually people will get tired of wrath, and a lot of people don't want to play Mists or Cata the way they were released, so I'm just thinking if we can port those expansions into 3.3.5a we might have something.
I think he meant graphics, like Water and stuff.
If that's what you mean yeah I think that should be doable, but could be hella hard.
graphics from newer expansions looks so ****ing disgusting on 3.3.5 client
Ya this is what I meant :P
What the **** did I just read?
WoD models are bad enough. I play Horde and the Forsaken models are still crap. Even if everything's fixed, I prefer the old models.
uh, we are talking about adding and scripting CATA and MISTS raids in 3.3.5a
Not really talking about graphics.
They would have to update the entire quest line for both factions, otherwise there would be a lot of broken quests, literally "Floating" around.
At some point it all breaks down into a set of instructions and about any modifications can be done, however it quickly turns into a massive and overwhelming project. There's also a decent amount of structural changes with the client after 3.3.5a so even with it theoretically being possible it would still realistically be impossible. Plus there aren't that many people who have the knowledge and experience to pull off something like that, at least without a lot of issues.
I just wonder if it would be more work then something like Skywind... do you think it would be worth it tho, new content in a good old engine?
