So, I started to play wotlk and searched for best tanking class and found out from forums that warrior is the best one, but leveling him is so frustrating. In westfall i couldnt take 2 mobs in a row, i always needed to heal. Then i moved to Duskwood, there i couldnt even kill a normal mob. Im rolling a prot. spec. Any tips how to make it easier?
Well, first of all the warrior is not the 'best' tank. Different raid bosses take different tanks to be tanked optimally. For example - a druid tank is far better for tanking sarth+3 than a warrior, assuming equal gear levels of course.
As for the leveling - it's a nightmare for the first 35ish levels. After that you pretty much faceroll everything in a good prot spec.
Leveling prot war should be a piece of cake after level 14 (when you get revenge rank 1). Next power spike is @40 when you get SS and than ofc @60, when you reach shockwave. Some caster mobs hurt a lot, but you should pretty much one/two shot any nonelite.
Just stay in defensive stance (make sure you have done a quest to obtain it), and don't ragestarve yourself with heroic strikes.
What do you suggest? Fast or slow weapon for leveling as prot?
Doesn't matter until you get devastate, then rather slow. (slow weapon speed increases only dmg of Rend, Deep Wounds and Devastate; it doesn't rly matter if you hit stronger or more heroic strikes - well you will not have rage for them most of the time anyways; slow weapon will be better when you are forced to pvp, since you can't stay on target all the time)
