1. The future of the WoW private servers

    Dear Warmane!
At first, sorry for my english and the grammatical errors. I tried.

You have made an awesome server and i am really glad to all of you because of this. I want to help as much as i can, so I’ve thinked about the future of the wow private servers.
I’ve played in many private servers in the last 3 years, and I’ve experienced something. The most of the private servers die after 4 or 5 years. It’s because a group of players get the full gear after 1, 2, or 3 years, and the new players can’t catch them up in gearing. The old players will be bored, because they can’t do anything, they have full gear, they are only playing for fun, but it’s pointless and boring, and it’s only a matter of time when they are leaving the server. New players are also getting bored, because old players with full gear (ganking them, if they are in the opposite faction,) don’t invitie them to raids, arenas, and even single dungeons, however, they are already good enough for it (i was „low” for a simple rdf hc with 4,3k gs).
Although I have an idea. Assume that a WOTLK private server starts at Nax patch with the associated pvp gear for a year. Then it will be updated to the Ulduar patch, with associated pvp gear for an another year. It happens with the Toc patch and the Icc patch as well. When it reaches the last content (Fall of the Lich King), the „season” which was 4 years long ends, and the server would go back to the Nax patch, and it would start the whole progress from the Nax patch to the ICC patch. After reaching the ICC patch, it would last for 1 years (like the other contents), and repeats the progress what I mentioned before. There won’t be big differences between players and gears, and players can experience all of the WotLK's raids, with it’s original taste.
At the end of a "season" gears will be deleted, but the characters. (The gear could be redeem for fun items, gems or something like that) Everyone will start with low gear (about 2.5-2.7 k gs) and it starts over and over again in every 4th year, with events, arena championships, and others at the end of each „season”.
I’ve asked my friends about it, and they think it’s a good idea. What do you think, Warmane?

  2. That's pretty much how Lordaeron realm is designed.

  3. That's pretty much how Lordaeron realm is designed.
But Lordaeron wont go back to Naxx after ICC.

Anyway, old raids are too easy on the 3.3.5 patch and in pvp classes are unbalanced with the lower season gear.
I dont think going back to older content is a good idea when 3.3.5 patch is adjusted to high end content.

  4. This is not the first time it has been suggested. People do not want to lose their progress (gear).

  5. To be honest, for me as a player, the moltdown kinda revived the wotlk scene and did what the OP is suggesting.
We would be much worse off if that didn't happen i think.

Without it we wouldn't have active development either ;) For me it is the combination of working content and having to get my gears together again.
