When transferring from alliance to horde or the opposite does one keep his items , gold , auctions , proffessions , mounts , reputation etc.? For example if i got the medallion of the alliance will that be turned into the horde one?

Yes you keep everything, i faction changed my warrior. Had all my gold, mounts, items, etc.
Question on top of that: if you have 300 points and want to change race of a character, can you faction change then faction change back?(150 points per faction change).

I believe you lose quest items, as your quest log is (most likely) reset. Also, you will lose items in the mailbox, since your toon no longer "exists" on that faction to receive the mail. I think you keep everything in the bank, and in your bags. Your titles remain, and your mounts. I've seen lots of horde on ally mounts and vice-versa. Someone told me not 5 minutes ago that the mounts change, but I think he said it to troll me.
Please someone confirm if racial mounts are changed upon faction change, or if they stay (I don't want to lose my awesome black battlestrider).
I hade 300+ points, ready for faction change...then I went overboard in the shop in a frenzy of mount hoarding. Now I have 13-14 days before I can change, but if the mounts stay, it'll be worth it to be a Blood Elf on a battle-strider.

less than a minute I guess, are you stuck at character selection screen with "loading update faction" ? (something like that)
in this case wait around 5 min and then restart the client

From the website go into My Account>Services>Select Realm>Select Character>Set Currency:Points/Coins>Faction Change
on Lordaeron it is available only for Coins
on Blackrock via a command in-game for free

some mounts change, some dont.
changed night elf to tauren, mount changed to undead horse.
changed from tauren to night elf, got a robot i think from IF? the gnomes one.
changed from tauren to draenei, i got to keep my war kodo.
i dont know how it works with other classes, but thats what i experianced. btw, faction change was done 3 months ago from night elf to tauren, and 2 days ago from tauren to night elf and draenei.
