1. WOTLK Combat Rogue best Specs and Build for Leveling

Hi i am looking for a good build for combat rogue for leveling :) can some1 help me ?

  2. leveling rogue is probably one of the most difficult classes to level mainly because the class is single mob pulls as opposed to like a warrior or mage grinding several mobs at once and also having only evasion and vanish as defensive cooldown`s other then that there really isn`t much u can do except wait until you get more talent points.

With that being said, the easiest way to kill a mob is very simple spell rotation-

Sin Strike - 1 combo Slice N Dice - Sin strike till death. You can throw in a 1 point or 2 point expose armor. Your main source of damage will be your melee weapon swings, nothing will do more damage then that, so whatever u can do u increase that damage is what you want to do. Sinister strikes = faster swings and expose armor = less armor for the enemy.

I usually use glyph of Slice And Dice and Glyph of Expose armor. Honestly those are the two most beneficial glyphs due to two reasons. Reason 1 you actually dont have anything to choose from that low level, and 2 the added 4 second scales with the talent and whatever + they are really cheap.

Being a rogue has its advantages mainly because you can stealth but as a result you end up losing exp all other classes get because you dont have to fight as many mobs. The above talents are what would be important up till that point for ur talent tree. For your weapons up until you get to you weapon masteries any sword/axe/mace will be fine for your main hand. Something with 2.2-2.6 attack speed, usually the higher the top end damage of the weapon will be better since your Sinister Strike scales off of weapon damage, you never use daggers with Sin Strike. Your offhand weapon you want a faster weapon, something 1.3-1.8 max.

You will see other classes that dual wield will typically use two weapons that have 2.4 and 2.4 attack speed on both of them, the reasons rogues dont do that is because rogues use poisons and the poisons proc is important which is nice.

above is the next break point you need to reach for combat and this is where u need to make a decision if you want maces or swords. Most people will typically usually go with swords because the 5% proc is like a little bit better then the armor pen. Armor pen is really good but its like soap, some is good but more is better. Also Melee haste is more important then Sin strike/eviscerate. Remember buffing your #1 Damage source is the most important.

It is also worth noting that now you have cleave with blade flurry. So combo your evasion and blade flurry togeather and use it to grab 2-3-4 mobs to increase your exp per hour just a little bit.

Now you get another cooldown with your adrenaline rush. Using this cool down is good for killing 2-3 mobs by itself and should not be combo with your evasion/blade flurry which gives you to opportunity to cleave 2 groups of mobs generating more exp per hour.

this is basically the last final break point in your leveling, aside from hitting 60. Unfair Advantage will basically make your evasion do damage. So whenever you pop evasion you will want to be tanking 3+ mobs where you can get your dps up by adding 3-5 main hand weapon swings into your damage pool.

after you get killing spree, you can either go assasination or sub. I personally find the sub tree to be more beneficial due to the utility it brings specifically in part of having Ghostly Strike to level with for 10 levels has its advantages because its basically another source of evasion which will be good for 1-2 more weapon hits along with the damage the attack actually gives, and if you get it glyphed then it does even more damage. (you would replace Ghost Strike Glpyh with expose armor)

just 1 more tip in when your fighting 2-3 mobs, if the current target is down to like 15% hp and whatever amount of combo points you have left to rerfresh you slice and dice, will be more beneficial then eviscerate.

    Good luck

Also, leveling rogues is a massive pita, not only due to no aoe (cause while leveling you usually go single target anyways) but mostly cause you suck at 1v1s vs mobs. Till 17 or so you can die vs single mobs your level, you dont have the damage migation/armor of a prot war, no self healing and bar specific breakpoints (the brief 1 ambush = dead mob period) this will continue onwards. Its almost impossible to kill most elites and soloing group quests can get super hard.

On the other side you can destroy everyone in pvp, once you are 74 or so even most level 80s with sub 20k heath are easy prey (if you level as sub that is). And before that once you have cheap and kindey vs equal levels you get free wins vs pretty much everyone. (and before that ambush is also super strong)

Lastly, on a personal note, i hated combat leveling (and multilate) and much prefered sub.
