Just a few questions from a returning player about Lordaeron

So I've decided to return to warmane and start playing WoW again and because of all the Lordaeron/Icecrown hype I asked in another thread which server was worth my time settling in. While icecrown was suggested to me because I'm mainly a pvp player I disliked 2 things of Icecrown 1. The absurdly long queue times and 2. The fact that "P2W" exist. So going back to my roots I choose Lordaeron since it was the very first realm I tried when I came on to Molten-WoW (I miss those days so much) and I can live without the convenience of RDF. I have a few questions overall about Warmane's incarnation of Lordaeron.

1. How is the community overall here? Some say its nothing but elitism and bigotry while others say that the community is overall friendly or just a mix of both.

2. How is the realm overall for a returning/new player? Is it possible to catch up with the current content of raiding/pvp for a new/returning player who wants to start fresh?

3. How is pvp here compared to Icecrown? This is the most important to me since I'm mainly a pvp player. Is world PvP active and are BG/Arena active?

4. Is raiding (for a new player at least or a player who hasn't done that much raiding) really as hard as people make it to be?

5. Because I'm a n00b to raiding which class would be best for me to level? I want something that is simple and easy to pick up, but can still work in a serious environment both in pvp and pve with enough effort put in.

Hello, I came from Alliance side, so I will speak here from Alliance's perspective, though I'm sure some of these will apply to Horde as well

1. I'd say mix of both. Global can be either helpful or cringeworthy at times. These days there are people who looks for 4k+ gs for heroics tho.

2. 2 of my guildies were totally new in WoTLK and both of them caught up just fine. I was also new and now I have 4.2k gs for dps and 3.8k+ for tanking. You will need guild to raid properly though, because most raidings will require achievement

3. World PvP has been gone silent in Icecrown zone these days. I mean I've been dailying and mining there without a single intrusion, (save for one holy pala who stunned me and stealing my titanium). But I think elsewhere are doing just fine. Especially STV, can't stop the pvp there I guess.

As for BGs, I think 80 is active, and for arena, 2s seems active but 3s looks dead.

Horde has been controlling WG for weeks now.

4. All WoTLK raids are supposedly buffed (that means Classic and TBC are buff free) Vault of Archavon and Flame Leviathan are by far the only thing PUGable without much stress. Just a little bit sharing here, but we recently tried PUGing parts of Naxxramas, namely 4 horsemen and Heigan. We did 6 tries on horsemen because tanks kept dying (first and second because of meteor, 3rd and 4th tank died in the middle of tanking because of hard hitting Thane and Baron. 5th randomly 2 shotted). We failed miserably at Heigan. We're 3.6+k gs geared mind you, tanks even more.

5. I think all classes are nice for levelling (prot warrior is faceroll, from personal experience) except maybe rogues. Can't really recommend any classes here, maybe lock and shammy because of some demands?

idk if i just had a unlucky day but i just started on icecrown with a friend and holy hell was the trade chat bad, i like ignored 8 people in a hour and those were just the really bad ones, didnt even bother ignoring the people spamming random **** cuz id be up to like 20. it seems to be like alot of jackass moved to icecrown. but again i might have just got unlucky. (im horde btw) also i played a little bit of alliance and their chat seems way worse on lorderan, and met alot more hostility(again this can easily just been chance tho)

thanks for the detailed response. I mainly plan on playing horde and I discovered I have a level 15 horde rogue from when I first started on lord when it first launched. Not sure if I'm going to stick with rogue or roll another class.

If you're gonna focus pvpv then i suggest going alliance, while its true horde has control over WG (as a horde im really surprised) Alliance is more pvp oriented and horde is pve. based on global chat Horde mostly out in BGs
