* at this point combat is superior to assa due to blade flurry bug as stated in here https://www.warmane.com/bugtracker/report/31671 which inflates recount numbers by alot.
* instant poison proc chance might be off as tested here https://www.warmane.com/bugtracker/report/36042 but nothing s confirmed yet
* the majoriry of rogues follow this assa guide http://forum.warmane.com/showthread.php?t=274665 which isn t quite on par on itemisation spec gemming rotaton etc.
* also keeping envenom buff up the entire encounter isn t as easy as you d think, which should be your main priority.
but if you know your **** you can safely play assa as it is a good spec if played right.
Combat at higher-end gear has considerably higher damage, as well as more useful damage in the sense that it has very high controllable burst damage, and better aoe/cleave damage. Combat is also punished less for target-swapping because less of your damage is dependent on Deadly Poison being up and fully stacked. These are some of the factors that make it more fluid in raid environment.
The Savage Combat debuff brought by Combat rogues (this increases physical damage taken by 4% for targets poisoned by the Combat rogue) is also basically a unique raid buff because the only other spec that provides this is a spec rarely brought to raids.
