  2. 70 to 80 takes, like, two days. Since you're Prot, just keep searching for dungeon groups. One full run with the quests to it is pretty much one level.

  3. I know this is a week old and you're probably 80 already, but you should quest, especially on Lordaeron. Full clearing a dungeon is going to give you like 2% of a level, the quests might give you another 5-6%, and that's only once. To even get dungeon quests you usually have to go through a chain of open world quests first anyway. You make a TON of gold doing Northrend quests - probably enough from 70-80 to buy yourself epic flying, or some BoE items to get you started out @ 80. Finally, you need to go through quest chains in Storm Peaks and Icecrown anyway to open up Sons of Hodir, Ebon Blade, and Argent Tourney factions/dailies, so you might as well do it on your way to 80.

If you're determined to AoE grind anyway, find areas with dense clusters of non-caster mobs. A lot of the animals like rhinos and such stand around in really dense packs. In Dragonblight outside the dungeons just west of that quest hub (I forget what it's called) there's tons of diseased grizzlies and elks and stuff standing in close proximity. The closer you get to 80 the harder its going be to find the mob density you're looking for without also having caster mobs that won't clump up and cooperate for you. You're also liable to run into world pvp from 80s doing dailies and stuff in Icecrown and Storm Peaks.
