Your account has been terminated due to Advertisement O.o
Hello there, fellow Warmane's. So here is my problem.. I usually play in blizzard but in times I come back here to check on things , reset my password once in a while and things like that.. So I logged in the site today and saw this: Your account has been terminated due to Advertisement.
I'm pretty sure I didn't advertise anything as I haven't log in the actual game in a very long time, tho here is what I see as last loggin and such:

My IP is 94.156.111.120 .. I have not idea what the other 2's are and I haven't shared my account with anyone ever. So if u can please fix this problem , thank you in advance.
a lot of people have been banned due to advertisement, while they haven't even really done anything, i think this is more than likely a security issue on Warmane.

No, these dumb people keep giving their account info to those websites that pretend to sell gold, then they wonder why they are getting banned for advertising.

This may be the case for a few people. But not everyone. I had the exact same issue. I know how to spot phishing attemepts, my pc is clean as a whistle and I do not purchase gold. There were alot of others that were having the same issue as well a few weeks back. Funny thing is mine did not even show access or password reset requests from anywhere, much less an unusual IP address. It makes me think it is possibly a security issue on warmane's side where someone has gained access to certain information. Regardless OP, submit the ban appeal and they will sort it out, it just may take a few days for you to hear anything. I got mine back as well.
"No, these dumb people keep giving their account info to those websites that pretend to sell gold"... First of all have some respect to the people , second read the post before saying anything. As to answer you: "know how to spot phishing attemepts, my pc is clean as a whistle and I do not purchase gold." This does the trick, anyway Intima just did and waiting for response , thank you buddy !
it could just be people using the same or similar passwords for certain services...
example:
email: [email protected]
account name in Warmane: ReallySmartDude
account name in other private server: ReallySmartDude
passwords for both private servers: IAmSuperSmart123564
many people play on multiple servers, some because they want to play vanilla or tbc, others for the special content some servers provide that 'fixes' or 'balances' the game better... and many don't blink twice using the same name or password in different services.. database leaks or actual staff abusing access to the databases aren't unheard of (I mean come on, Hermes caused the Moltdown didn't he?) and mass trying logins and passwords in other private servers to boost your gold sale website which you fund with money from the accounts you get access to by database abuse, pure luck or 'customers'... isn't half as hard as you think it is in the age of the free vpn and a 5€ per year domain with some basic php knowledge to set up your "site"

First of all i'm talking about this from my own experience! And NO! Never have i given out my account details nor logged into weird sites to do something not prohibited on warmane. My problem was a few weeks back as well. And i have to say this seems more than likely done by an automated program that forces out passwords and changes them. Because the people affected by it, their characters were left untouched, wouldn't the characters be messed with then? As i said in another post, this seems to be a serious security issue and it needs to be focused on.

There's no security issue on our database, no "automated program that forces out passwords." There are users who are lax with the security and end up with their accounts stolen. How many of these people had 2-step authentication? Zero. People allow their accounts to be stolen, their accounts are used as disposable advertisement-spreading tools, get banned, and try to claim we need to fix it?
