I live in Hawaii. The most recent server maintenance is/was 5 AM PTD (that means Pacific Daylight Savings Time). But that didn't happen; instead it happened at 3 AM PTD SHARP.
I tried logging in numerous times as I was booted at that EXACT TIME, nowhere NEAR 5 AM PTD. Why am I complaining? Because the WEST COAST
PEOPLE don't seem to care about us PLAYERS out here in HAWAII.
Yeah, that's right--HAWAII.
We have our OWN TIME ZONE people, and there are LOADS of WoW players here. We constantly get the SHORT END of the stick out here in "Paradise" by various companies, because they think simply having their customer service times based on California time is "good enough".
Let me tell you, IT AIN'T. There are over 1 million people living over here. They are Sprint customers, they are Verizon customers, they are Time Warner customers, and yes--even Blizzard customers.
For those of you who are CURIOUS as to the time in Hawaii vs California, if it is 3 AM PDT then it is only MIDNIGHT in Hawaii. And we don't do that silly daylight saving BS either.
OK, rant is over. Think about the THOUSANDS of players in Hawaii next time you decide to jump the gun on maintenance because you think "oh well, most people/players in California/Oregon/Washington are asleep.
Then why then, did my notice on my WoW client say "maintenance scheduled for Lordaeron on Oct. 11 at 5 AM PDT" ? ? ? PDT is Pacific Daylight Savings Time--NOT EU time.
As far as I can tell, you still get messages there from retail...I don't usually pay attention, but I'm pretty sure they sometimes even have bliz links in them.
