Old returning player, what's merge?

Hey guys, so I've played Warmane/molten since 2010, but this year I haven't played at all, I'm returning and noticed on the website something called "Merge". What exactly does it do? I try to link it to another account of mine but it says the account doesn't belong to me!

I guess you can ignore it.
It is a feature for players who had more than 10 characters during the Deathing+Ragnaros merge into Icecrwon
