1. Can Dk's tank?

I'm wondering if dk's can tank on lordaeron, i'm having serious issues holding threat on multiple targets. I'm wiping in VH Hc ffs

  2. Yes, they can tank pretty well.

Make sure you're in Frost Presence. Make sure you have the appropriate tanking talents. Use Icy Touch for big single-target threat. Death and Decay will be the general-use area threat tool. Area threat varies depending on the spec. If you're playing Blood, area the threat can be problematic.

  3. Also important for a DK tank is diseases on all targets. This will ease your threat :)

  4. What spec you going? DK tanking is working. Iam still new to it but tanked à few hc and alot of ToC hc/normal.

I went 2h singel disease frost since gear aint that great, can give you à few tips in game. Fr.o.m. Neewibe to neewbie :)

    Ledamoten (horde)

  5. If you're blood specced, your AoE threat will suck. All you can do is DnD, Spread your disease, Blood Boil and then tab Heart Strike to hit as many adds as fast as you can. You can work hard to make it a little bit better, but it's very weak by design. Whenever you have 3+ mobs to hold aggro on, if there is no rogue or hunter for Tricks of the Trade/Misdirection, there is nothing you can do about it.

Frost on the other hand has much, much better AoE threat thanks to Howling Blast and more powerful Frost Fever. What you lose for switching from Blood is some survivability cooldowns (Vampiric Blood, Death Pact, Rune tap, Mark of blood), and you gain Unbreakable armor and Acclimation, which are pretty neat for tanking.

Death Pact is not a unique blood dk CD

  7. As a blood tank myself, I can pretty much tell that Violet Hold is the bane of my existence. It wasn't easy as well to tank as Unholy, my guildie being reference. And I sure am not going to try Frost, knowing how personally suckish I am at generating threat on that spec.

You can actually tank through Violet hold by memorizing which portal throws guardians and which one throws squad (if not going for achievement, blast them out with crystals. If you do, tank them by the wall, because some of these squads are made to throw you into as much disarray as possible), then time your DnD right and
manage your runes correctly. A hunter or rogue is always welcome in your team.
If all else fails, just icy touch everyone with reckless abandon.

AND make sure your healer can reach you. Healers hate stairs a lot, and for good reason

My advice though? Stay the hell away from the Hold after you get your purple pants

  8. It's pretty hard to aoe tank as a dk nowadays, mainly because of D&D's low aggro even with 2p t10,but you can try the following:D&D->IT->PS->Pestilence->Blood Tap->Blood Boil, this should hold enough aggro on a larger number of mobs against moderately geared damage dealers.

  9. Go with a Blood Tap > D&D > Blood Boil > Icy Touc > Plague Strike > Pestilence. If I remember correctly, you should have enough runes for that combo. Also, when you're tanking AoE while being under 5.8-6k , ask from your party/raid mates not to attack yet and to give you time to spread the Pestilence combo (Usually takes around 3 seconds with global CDs).

  10. Blood Boil does **** all without diseases up.

  11. If you wanna aoe tank, just spec frost, much easier with howling blast and 2 slow 1handers.
As for blood ... best bet is just to get killing machine and abuse icy touch's insane threat multiplier (it's damage x 10). In other words, spam IT on every single mob, get death runes and spam more icy touch.

  12. DK tank as it is on this server has apsolutely NO aoe threat. There is not a single spec that will provid u enough aoe aggro in order to keep the mindless dps alive. My advice to u is NOT to focus on casting spells such as Death and Decay and Howling Blast, but to get a good spec with Killing Machine in it and to switch trough kreeps and spam IT (Icy Touch) on them with couple of posible Rune Strikes.
IT > PS > BS > RS per 1 mob with maybe some Frost Strikes while u wait for runes to finish their CD and thats the best way to keep the aggro on u. After u use Pestilence or Blood Strike u will have 2 death runes that u can use for more Icy Touches. Try not to use Frost Strike with consuming the Killing Machine proc if ur Icy Touch is 2sec away to be ready... Dark Command the mobs that switch on the DPS if u dont have runes and thats it. Try to use 1 Icy Touch on a mob after u Dark Command it, that way it will 100% be focused on u after the Taunt effect is off.

DK as it is atm cant tank more than 3 mobs without losing aggro constantly. Frost Spec is definetly best choise for RDFs and for raids u should use Blood.

http://wotlk.openwow.com/talent#j0ER...xxxVMIk0zbuzZc spec u could use for RDFs. U can Dual Wield this spec in order to maximise Killing Machine procs.

http://wotlk.openwow.com/talent#j0EMqIbfcbobsZhxbxmMIz spec u could use for tanking BOSSes
In blood spec u can lose talents from Spell Deflection and get 3/3 Bloody Strikes, 1/3 Scent of Blood or Mark of Blood, its up to u... U should wield a Two Handed wep for this spec.

  13. I'm wondering if dk's can tank on lordaeron, i'm having serious issues holding threat on multiple targets. I'm wiping in VH Hc ffs
    DK tonk best tonk

but srsly though for groups of adds you're better off with prot pally

however, if you RDF a lot, consider a UH tank spec, spread yer diseases and drop DnD. aoe aggro shouldnt be that much of a problem

  14. I don't know what the **** you are all smoking, but Unholy is MORE than capable as far as AOE-threat is concerned...

  15. Actualy Voevoduul might be right, i didnt test it out since i consider Unholy tank not beeing viable for tanking bosses which is all i do when i tank, which is rarely nowadays, but for farming the instances and having problems with AoE threat something like: http://wotlk.openwow.com/talent#j0EZhxbZcGhIt00xfh00uIV might help u out with that. Again, its something i just came up with, it might work, it might not, if u want u can try it out...
Glyphs: Death and Decay, Bone Shield, Dark Command OR Icy Touch, depending on how usefull 20% more dmg on Frost Fever is...

Edit: Changed the Talent build a bit.
Desolation wont be up all the time cos u are rarely doin Blood Strikes when trying to make AOE threat.
If u think Wandering Plague wont proc enough duo to low crit chance, u can use those talent points in Anticipation and Black Ice.
If u think ur ghoul can be helpfull u can lose some points from eather Wandering Plague, or from Black Ice, or from Anticipation and Necrosis.
