Have you configured Windows to determine how the multiple sound inputs function on your system depending on what device has priority?
Also have you told World of Warcraft to select the correct sound device and if you use the headset that you have enabled Headphone mode?
It would depend on the type of sound device you have installed, If your using the an on-board Realtek, you should be able to manage the sound outputs inputs, via the Realtek control panel.
Go into the World of Warcraft/WTF folder and open the config.wtf file with a simple text editor like notepad. Look for the following line:
SET Sound_ListenerAtCharacter «X»
If you find it and the x=0, then change that to a 1 and save the file. If you don't find the line at all, add it to the end of the file like so:
SET Sound_ListenerAtCharacter «1»
Then save the change and test out the issue in game.
