Hey mate, you should be able to play with friends right off the bat, unless you make a Pandaren, a Worgen or a Goblin.

Sometimes however, you have to adventure a little in order to do so. I'll assume your friend is human and you are draenei.

It's best you two decide for a common leveling zone, and meet there. Yes, you are Draenei, but you are not limited to Bloodmyst isle. You can take a boat from the harbor in Exodar, that will take you to Stormwind (actually I thing to Ru'theran village first, then next boat to Stormwind). From Stormwind you can continue onwards to Redridge mountains (if you're both level 15, thats the spot you want to be in), or Darkshire (level 20 zone). :)


Aditionally, remember to register your hearthstone (the item you have in your inventory by default, normally the first item) at the inn in Stormwind if you're going to be leveling near it. That way you can always teleport back to Stormwind even if you end up somewhere far away. :)

After your starting zone you should be able to go to any desired zone to level for your bracket
