Saw that you can buy an account for coins. Can someone explain how that works? Is the toon put onto your account etc?

you can by a CHARACTER, not an account.

You buy a charcter > that character will appear on your character list.
Just like a character you have level up

You cannot buy accounts, only characters individually.
