If you could go through the store what would be the best gear for a ret paly only using points.

If you're looking to gear up a paladin without ever playing it, purely via Vote Points, it'll take a fair while, but probably doable eventually. It'd take a long time though, half a year i'd say. If your aim is to simply gear up a Ret without playing it much, you'll be better off just using BoEs and waiting for the Christmas events to come out. When the Snowman Event came out in 2015, i managed to farm over 3000 Emblem of Triumphs and 2000 Emblems of Frosts. In fact, i'm still using that stockpile of EoTs/EoFs even today to buy all my Epic Gems and Primordial Saronites.

I'd say start out by planning out what BoE's you can get for your paladin, then eliminate those slots.
BoEs:
Hellfrozen Bonegrinders - 264 Boots.
Leg Plates of Painful Death - 264 Legs.
Saronite Swordbreakers - 245 Wrists
Titanium Razorplate - 245 Chest Piece.

Weapon wise you can get a Battered Hilt for a 251 2hander.

With Christmas Events expected to pop up soon, you should be able to snowman farm your way into alot of Triumphs and Frost Emblems, if they bring that event back.
In which case you can add these into the list

EoFs:
4 Piece T10 (Helm, Shoulders, Chest, Legs)
264 Gloves- 60 Eofs
264 Cloak - 50 eofs
264 Belt - 60 Eofs
Herkumi War Token - 264 Trinket, 60 EoFs

Emblem of Triumph
245 Ring, 35 Eots,
245 Trinket, 50 Eots

ICC Repfarm for your 2nd ring and you'll basically be almost 6k gearscore without too much effort. Christmas Events are an AWESOME way to gear up new toons, so best to wait and see what they bring out.

I made a gear list for all Paladin specs for the point store. It's since been deleted. I suppose I will make it anew.

Generally speaking, you want to try and get the available 239 ilvl items. 232 ilvl is the next best. Trinkets are the exception. Comet's Trail is not that good of an item for a Ret. If you can get a Darkmoon Card: Greatness, that would be your best trinket, albeit not available via points. Similar case with the EoT trinket. Wrathstone, Blood of the Old God and Dark Matter are all good trinkets for points.
