1. Is the gold squish even happening?

So... I'm kind of frustrated. And I feel like it isn't unreasonable for me to be frustrated for a few different reasons:

    1. The gold squish hasn't happened yet and I feel like I'm being toyed with.
    2. Prices are at ridiculous heights in some categories because there is a lack of people selling anything in anticipation for the gold squish.
    3. The economy is coming to a stand still because the community is liquidating their gold into product to be sold after the squish, that doesn't actually appear to be happening. People are no longer buying anything because there isn't a whole lot of gold left to use, and no one is selling anything because their profits will be cut in half.

Please would someone just tell the community when this is actually scheduled to happen? I'm on Lordaeron right now and people are now saying it was all a joke? I know that can't be true. But please, would someone who actually knows what is going on just talk to the community??

  2. They wouldn't just come out and say "Lol jk get ****ed"

It will happen today, they said January 4th. So the latest time possible is 23:59 server time.

  3. I realize that, and that's why I'm asking here.
And you're right, they did say January 4th, but they could at least tell us what time they plan to start and about how long it will take. It seems a little unprofessional and amateur for them to just give a date with no ETA on the actual change.
That is the purpose of this thread, to maybe coax the dev team into including the community on a rather large development.

Didn't they also say Black Temple would be coming out Dec. 17?

  5. It's getting pretty ridiculous to be honest, what is the point of saying there will be a gold squish months in advance, then not even give an official response why it hasnt happened yet?

So that you have time to prepare and order your affairs in anticipation. 24 hours of leeway is negligible in comparison to 1000+ hours they'd given us to prepare.

  7. So that you have time to prepare and order your affairs in anticipation. 24 hours of leeway is negligible in comparison to 1000+ hours they'd given us to prepare.
Regardless of whether or not what you say has any bearing here, the fact of the matter is that they haven't given us any hard date, and because of that it is having a negative effect on the server and the experience of a portion of their community. The very least they could do for us as their player base is let us know, now that the actual date is here, when they plan on implementing the change. 1000+ hours of advanced notice doesn't change the fact that the economy has gone to crap and people are getting aggravated by that.
I honestly don't feel like it's too much to ask for a time. In fact, we shouldn't have to ask for a time, they should have set a date and a time and told the community back when they announced it.
That fact on top of the economy is frustrating a lot of people.

  8. So that you have time to prepare and order your affairs in anticipation. 24 hours of leeway is negligible in comparison to 1000+ hours they'd given us to prepare.
It's actually quite the opposite. It's a pretty bad look to give thousands of hours for people to prepare, yet, they can't even be on schedule for a date they set. This is an international server, and it's the 5th for just about half the world now. Not everyone has thousands of gold to be able to continue what they were doing with out it really impacting them. There are a lot of people, myself included, where it's literally a waste of time to do anything when the gold will get cut in half.

  9. Just want to point out they said it was happening on the 4th.

    It's still the 4th.

Save your freak out energy for when it is no longer the 4th.

  10. It is now announced on warmane front page.

    Here we go.

  11. we be pranked wizzle
Kappa, it was never fake news, here we go bois

  12. I can only presume that you folk do not operate in actual professional environments**. They gave a hard date, that's plenty.

A specific time would be a nice-to-have, but given the nature of the endeavor (how many tens of thousands of accounts must be altered?), I would certainly want to have a window of operation in order to account for any number of hiccups and delays. 24 hours is a long window, but not unreasonable.

"By close of business" is a common term across many industries for hard-date completion of projects/deliveries. Close of business in this international environment is understandably 23:59:59 GMT.

**Edit: I should probably say large-scale professional environments. There is a significant difference between a barista informing a customer that a latte will be done within 3 minutes, and a car manufacturer informing a distributor that an inventory purchase will be fulfilled by June 30th. Not to knock baristas, merely proposing that the scale of Warmane as compared to the resources available warrants perhaps a bit more leeway than you might give your dog for taking its sweet time in urinating on the daily walk.

  13. There certainly is a big difference between manufacture and internet services. When a brand announces that they will upload a new collection online, they do a countdown and show the hours, minutes, all that. When a TV channel announces that they will broadcast a certain show at a certain hour, be sure that would be the hour. You see what is similar between what I say and warmane? Yes, the number of clients. You see what differs in your example? Yes, the number of clients. Now rethink why everyone thinks Warmane was a bit unprofessional here. Should we care? Heck no it's a private server. Should they care? Yes, we are, whether they like it or not, clients.
