1. Retail...is it worth?

Kinda easy question. I personally dont know if im allowed or not to ask such question, if not, mod feel free to delete this topic.

Despite the fact that i've stopped play Retail right before Cataclysm release, i was thinking to comeback for try a bit how is the currently WoW game itself.

I suppose several people here play Retail and Warmane, thats what i was thinking to do.

The points i would like to ask if someone knows the answers are:

    - Since months i've a limited amount of time, would count it as MAYBE 1-2 hour/day and a bit more during week-ends if nothing to do irl. How does it effect my "Retail WoW experience"? I would mostly play PvP (arena), but still appreciate to get some raid boss kill just mostly to see them, no matter heroic or mystic (for now...)
    - I've always played Warrior, and would give a try in that class, is it viable in terms of pvp/pve or there is somekind of metagame that turn them off?
    - Considering the new expansion should come soon, is it a waste of time to start over retail right now, or could be a good thing to do to start the new expansion from day1?
    - What are the biggest changes compared to WOTLK gameplay? (I know plenty of them, using google ofc)
    - What about professions and so on, considering that ill have an istant 100 with the WoW purchase.
    - What about WoW tokens, are they still possible to get? If yes, how hard for someone nowdays more casual?
    - In terms of PvP, are required any "HC or top pve gear" like it is on WOTLK or you're able to obtain the proper gear with Conquest Points?

Everyone opinion is important to make a decision:

Is it worth? Is it not?
How long you enjoyed the game? Why you've come back to Warmane, or why u're doing both?

Sorry for the wall of text, and sorry for the bad english, typing from phone that creates so many mistakes during typing.

    Best regards.

checking the new expansion is always worth and funny at least for few months.even disasters like WOD was really fun first few months.
retail is currently very casual friendly game.you can do all the content (aside of mythic raiding you need to invest time into it) with 1-2 hours a day.
getting into PVP is also very aesy there is lfg system where people lf for people to play with its extremely easy to find someone to queue with.
about gameplay changes its completely new game aside of spell/class names there is almost nothing alike WOTLK.if you are jumping from WOTLK to Legion will be a shock for you since the game dont even feel like old WOW its like completely new game.
professions are reworked you can do almost everything with 1 skill level.however we dont know what will happen to them in next expansion maybe they will rework them again.
in the begining of the expansion farming gold is very easy and wow tokens feel really easy to get.for example at the start of Legion i was easy farming 100-200k daily selling ores and wow tokens cost around 60k.at the end of the expansion however is harder to get gold and token price is way higher.
there is no PVP/PVE gear anymore.they remove that from the game.you simple have GEAR.in PVP everyone have base ilv with fixed stats and for every extra 10 ilv you get +1% to all stats.what is important in PVP now is your art weapon and your honor talents.arena wins also randomly give you gear(they can give you even legendary items) but the gear ilv depends of your weekly rating.overall gearing for PVE is very easy you can do it w/o even doing raids just go M+ world quests and arenas.

Is it worth geting back to WOW right now? on my opinion NO. there is no point to go back at the end of the expansion.better get back tot he game 1 month before next expansion release, faceroll the whatever content legion had because it will be nerfed to the ground, get whatever mounts you can get from raids and get rdy for the next expansion.
another really good reason to play retail is that they will most likely make shared account subscription between whatever current expansion they have and the incoming classic servers they will release.so you will get 2 for the price of one ( or at least this is what we hope for).

also there is no reason not to play both warmane and retail.anytime you get bored of retail you can hop on warmane and play your char, its not like we have any progress on our current WOTLK servers or there will be anything you will miss from them.

btw i am sure there will be comments that will tell you how awesome or how bad Legion expansion is and what problems it had and bla bla bla,but in the end of the day its something fresh and new unless money are tight there is absolutely no reason not to check it out.

  3. I wouldn't bother, it's total garbage these days imo.
Edit; The primary developers play it on tablets, so that gives an indication of what it is like now.

  4. In a nutshell: doesn't worth - details below.

I'm from retail, 14 days left on my acc, but I'm leaving it there coz how I'm disgusted from retail (don't even know why I gave it another chance after I almost vomitted 4 moths ago, owell...) current content (Legion) sucks, imho - I'm aware how blizzard is addicted to all of this fel magic / green demon sh*t, but what is going on retail is hilarious, we get it blizzard, you love green, you love demons.. let's just get over with it, and try something else, because 98.7% of your playerbase is dying of boredom from "LEGION, LEGION LEGIOOOOON OMGWTF". They just can't stop this, I started to think of they are under the control of Sargeras itself, after all these years... The daily grindfest disgusts me, just the thought of it... you have to quest to open dungeons (yea you read it right), you have to grind through RNG lootboxes to get legendary items(dropchance = 0.00001% kind of), to actually worth something in the game, likeee wtf?!... item level literally 1000 (no kidding, legendaries are going this itemlvls nowadays), for what reason?? They could just squish the ilvl back to 277 (just a thought, nvm). So retail is now like, more focusing of wasting players' time by all of this grindfest, rather then the content, just to ensure themselves that the company gets its money (because we are wasting time on farming), from us.. players.. To be honest: WoTLK or TBC were actually THE expacs. After that, the game totally lost its point: fun. I can't go raid there, because I have to grind the legendaries, or the worldquest for the artifact power... If I go raid, what I get from bosses is gold (worthless, nuff said), or a random 1hour buff called augmentation... items drop at exclusively low rate, which would be ok, if a raid wouldnt last a forever time (even without wipes)... even here in wotlk the drop rates were "low", buuut the fun was fking high. so in sum: retail = timeconsuming grindfest, without any fun. private server with wotlk or tbc content = fun, not that time consuming, not based on grinding!!!! So I vote private servers over retail. My last hope on retail is for the next expac, called Battle for Azeroth, where the game actually will feel like in vanilla (horde vs alliance, random themed raids (AND NOT LEGION ONLY FOCUSED duhhhhh...))
currently i'm seeing legion even in my dreams, all i see is green.. thx to retail xD

  5. So casual it might as well be Diablo 3 by now with welfare legendaries that you can get from random mobs or arena wins now apparently. They've removed like half different stat types as well as removed a good sum of abilities, and of course very dumbed down talent trees. PvP has its own separate talent tree and gear so duels are basically meaningless. The only thing I can imagine that is good about retail is that it is probably more balanced and easier to get into.

This isn't true at all. It's as casual as you make it. Also, duels have always been useless.

  7. Retail will become worth playing after release of Vanilla (and possibly TBC) expansions.

  8. Well I heard the mythic raiding can be pretty hardcore but problem is, all the classes are so dumbed down and boring, no one wants to hang around long enough to bother with the raids. What's the point in raiding if you already know every spec is boring as hell to play?

thats not true.classes are way more complex and fun to play that they are in WOTLK.go check unholy DK rotation and compare it to WOTLK.the reason why people are not happy with mythic raiding it because its too hard for the reward you get that there is almost no reason to do it.better just spam m+.

also legion is expansion is done already no point of talking about it better focus on what will battle of azeroth be.

  10. I mainly don't play on retail because its overpriced.
Not that I couldn't afford it, I'm just not willing to give so much money to a company that I find more and more unsympathetic since the fusion with Activision.
Blizz still charges the same subscription costs like during classic wow times of like 13 euro per month and, as if this wasn't enough, every new xpac cost another 40-60 euro.
In addition the service prices are insane. 30 dollar for a faction change. What the hell?
If I wanted to start on retail and play for one year now I would have to pay a total of 190 euro.
Does Blizz realy deserve so much money for a 14 years old game?
Other games cost 60 euro and they were developed from scratch and have no sub fee.

Nowadays I consider Blizz nearly as greedy and rotten like EA games with Battlefront 2 and imo such things shouldn't be supported.

  11. thats not true.classes are way more complex and fun to play that they are in WOTLK.
How are they more complex? I can't even fill my keybinds on Legion becasue the abilities are pruned so much and every class has the same build and spend playstyle. PvP is about as fun as hitting a training dummy these days.
As for BoA, I'm not even going to bother with it. Blizzard aren't going to bring any of the old customisation elements back and they're not going to make classes more interesting. They already said they acknowledge how much players hate it but they're happy with it so it's staying pretty much how it is. Also they're removing PvP servers. I haven't heard a single good thing about the new expac.

wtf blizzard charge fee so you can play the game but thats all.EA with B2 is selling you a box that have chance to give you a item that will make you stronger aka do more dmg take less dmg and so on.comparing the 2 is stupid.

some people prefer to pay 15$ fee to play game where bugs get instantly fixes, server are stable and you cant get your gear from the shop as in literally every other MMORPG that is f2p.

Do you even play Legion? To be honest, your comment was a crap. It is not a constructive comment at all.
Basically, you **** on Legion for some really stupid reasons which also had older expansions. (Don't like Legion 'cause it's green themed, while Wrath is frost, cold, blue almost the whole time during the expansion, but you know... Wrath is good, TBC, Vanilla? BEST. But, everything new is ****! -Every third private WoW player.
    I don't want to continue.

Auren, Skoobydoo gave you best answer. He is absolutely right in everything he stated.

Overwatch has also loot boxes that can be bought with money.
Its not as terrible designed as in Battlefront 2 but goes in the same direction.

Also I consider a wow sub fee of 13€ too much.
U can't tell me that hosting the servers cost so much money. Even with half the sub fee blizz would earn more than enough.

overwatch give you only cosmetics not power boosts.

15$ can be too much for you but can be nothing for someone else.for another person 5$ can be too much.just because its too much for you dont mean you have to blindly hate on the game.

i am convince you havent touch the expansion.its pointless to argue with you about it since you havent play it.just gonna tell you this 2 things.
1.people dont play same spec people change their specs before every boss depend of the encounter.
2.go watch video guide or something and compare unholy DK in legion to WOTLK dk,check what art weapon does and i hope you will understand.
